Job Description

Anchor Tours is seeking a highly organized, reliable, and proactive Shore Excursion Assistant to join our operations team. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced tourism environment, communicates well with vendors and cruise lines, and has excellent attention to detail. Our business is primarily focused on the cruise industry, so the workload follows the cruise season. The high season can be demanding and fast-paced, while the low season may involve significantly fewer working days each month. The successful candidate must be comfortable with this seasonal schedule and able to adapt to changing operational demands. ________________________________________ About the Role The Shore Excursion Assistant will support the day-to-day coordination of Anchor Tours' cruise operations and serve as an important link between cruise ships, tour operators, vendors, and the Anchor Tours team. The role focuses on ensuring that all shore excursions are properly scheduled, communicated, and ready for each ship's arrival. The successful candidate will need to be highly organized, responsive, and comfortable managing multiple requests and changes, often with tight deadlines. Working hours will vary according to the cruise ship schedule and operational requirements. Work may be conducted from the office, at the port, or remotely when appropriate. Port attendance and working days can be determined by the cruise ship schedule published by the Cayman Islands Port Authority. ________________________________________ Key Responsibilities

  • Respond promptly and professionally to cruise ship shore excursion requests and operational communications.
  • Coordinate and schedule tours based on ship requirements, passenger demand, tour availability, and vendor capacity.
  • Prepare the daily tour schedule prior to each ship's arrival, ensuring all required information is accurate and up to date.
  • Advise and coordinate with all relevant tour operators, transportation providers, guides, and other vendors regarding the day's operations.
  • Maintain and communicate tour allotments and availability to cruise line contacts and vendors.
  • Coordinate directly with cruise ship shore excursion departments regarding schedules, tour capacity, operational changes, and special requests.
  • Monitor last-minute changes, cancellations, delays, and other operational issues and communicate updates promptly.
  • Ensure vendors are fully informed of expected guest numbers, meeting times, pickup arrangements, and other operational requirements.
  • Complete accurate End of Day reports and other operational records.
  • Assist with port operations and attend the port when required to support cruise ship arrivals and departures.
  • Maintain organized records of daily operations, requests, schedules, and vendor communications.
  • Assist with resolving operational issues and provide practical solutions to ensure a smooth guest experience.
  • Perform other duties reasonably required to support Anchor Tours' cruise and shore excursion operations.

________________________________________ Work Schedule Because Anchor Tours operates primarily within the cruise industry, working days and hours will vary according to the cruise ship schedule and seasonal demand. During the high season, the position can be demanding and may require frequent port attendance, early starts, late finishes, and the ability to respond to operational matters as they arise. During the low season, there may be significantly fewer working days per month. The employee may work from the office, at the port, or remotely, depending on operational requirements. The Cayman Islands Port Authority ship schedule will be used as a primary reference for planning port attendance and work requirements. ________________________________________ Travel Travel to the United States and other jurisdictions may be required from time to time for meetings, training, industry events, or business-related purposes. ________________________________________ Requirements

  • 2–4 years of relevant work experience.
  • Previous experience in tourism, hospitality, cruise operations, travel, logistics, or administration is an asset.
  • Excellent organizational and scheduling skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong computer skills and confidence using email, scheduling systems, spreadsheets, and other office software.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with cruise line representatives, vendors, and internal staff.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to operational issues.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions when required.
  • Flexibility to work varying hours based on cruise ship arrivals and operational needs.
  • Spanish language skills are an asset.
  • Willingness and ability to travel overseas when required.
