Purpose: The Student Pastor provides discipleship and pastoral and ministry leadership to students from Year 7 through college/university. Educational and Ministerial Qualifications
o A Bible college or seminary degree in Student Ministry, Theology, Christian Education or another relevant field.
o A demonstrated ability to lead, teach, and disciple young people from students in Year 7 through young adults, with 3 - 5 years of experience. o Experience in organizing student events, Bible studies, mission trips, or camps is a strong plus.
o Ability and desire to teach sound biblical messages. o Pastoral care skills—visiting, counseling, partnering with parents/guardians, and guiding young people. o Missional mindset to disciple believers as well as reach unbelievers. Biblical and Spiritual Qualifications
o A clear testimony of salvation and a growing relationship with God. o Demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit as described in Galatians 5.
o A life marked with integrity, holiness, and accountability in both private and public life.
o Fully committed to the authority of Scripture and theology that aligns with the beliefs of Cayman Islands Baptist Church. o Able to teach, explain, and apply the Bible clearly and faithfully. o Passion to see students and young adults come to a saving relationship with Jesus Christ and grow to maturity in their faith. General Responsibility: The Student Pastor works in harmony with the Senior Pastor and other church staff, to carry out the mission, values and strategic purpose of Cayman Islands Baptist Church and to lead the church in a ministry of discipleship and outreach to the youth in the church and community from Year 7 through college/university. o Capable of teaching in both large and small group settings in ways that resonate with both teens and young adults. o Approachable, a good listener, and skilled in mentoring. o Capable of staying calm and present during students’ personal or family crises o Possess the ability to use digital communication, i.e. social media, email and texting effectively and wisely for ministry.
o Able to plan relevant, safe student programs, events, and trips effectively. o Competent in managing time, volunteers and ministry budgets. o Able to recruit, train, and lead a team of volunteers. o Understand how student ministry integrates with the church’s larger mission. o Can think strategically and develop long term discipleship goals for spiritual growth from preteen to young adult. o Competent in computer skills such as Word, Excel, Outlook, Planning Center, Canva, etc. o Serves under the authority of the Senior Pastor with humility and cooperation. Contextual Awareness for the Cayman Islands
o Awareness and respect for Caymanian culture, values and traditions. o Engages with students in ways that are culturally relevant but biblically grounded. o Recognition and care for the variety of cultures represented in our community and congregation. o Awareness of current trends, struggles, and generational pressures. o Fosters an environment where students from all backgrounds feel welcome and seen.
o Must meet the Cayman Islands’ work permit and residency requirements for church staff.
o Willingness to be involved in local schools, sports, and/or community events. o Viewed as a spiritual leader inside the church and in the broader community. i Leading worship and planning worship services of the Church. ii) Participating in worship activities as assigned by the Senior Pastor, preaching at appointed times (if applicable), participating in marriage services and funerals, and counseling, or other special events as required.
