DENTAL ASSISTANT

Clinical Support & Chairside Assisting

• Perform four-handed dentistry techniques to assist the dentist during complex procedures (e.g., oral surgery, restorative, and cosmetic dentistry).
• Prepare and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and materials for scheduled procedures.
• Take and develop high-quality digital dental radiographs (X-rays) ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
• Perform advanced clinical tasks including taking alginate impressions, pouring and trimming models, fabricating provisional crowns and bleaching trays, applying dental dam, coronal polishing, and suture removal.

Infection Control & Sterilization

• Adhere strictly to the Cayman Islands Health Practice Commission (HPC) regulations regarding infection control .
• Sterilize instruments and equipment using autoclaves and chemical monitoring systems.
• Ensure the treatment rooms and common areas are cleaned, stocked, and fully operational at all times.

Patient Care & Administration

• Record accurate medical histories and vital signs; document clinical notes in the dental software system.
• Educate patients on post-operative care and oral hygiene techniques.
• Manage emergency situations calmly and effectively, ensuring patient safety and readiness for medical emergencies.

Inventory & Equipment Management

• Monitor inventory levels of dental supplies, place orders as needed, and manage stock control to ensure no disruption to clinical services.
