Cayman ABA is offering an 8 week internship to candidates interested in becoming eligible for employment as a Behaviour Technician at Cayman ABA. During this two month training program, Cayman ABA will provide training that meets the requirements for ABAT credentialing and employment as a Junior Behaviour Technician at Cayman ABA. Candidates selected to participate in the training program will be taught the skills of ABA, to be applied in a clinical, educational and home setting. During the training period the trainees will be compensated $500 KYD per week. ABA is an exciting field of healthcare that is in demand in the Cayman Islands and across the world; there is a shortage of qualified Behaviour Technicians (RBTs / ABATs) and ABA professionals, despite the urgent need for ABA services. An ABAT is a certified paraprofessional, who provides direct one-on-one ABA therapy to children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other developmental delays. ABATs implement skill acquisition and behaviour-change plans that focus on teaching language, communication, academic, and life skills to individuals with autism, using the methods of ABA. Treatment plans are developed and continually monitored by a Board Certified supervisor. The ABAT credential is the first step to a rewarding and globally in-demand career helping children. If this sounds like the career path for you, we’ve got good news! You can become credentialed as an ABAT right here on island, at the first and only accredited Behavioural Health Center of Excellence, in the Caribbean: Cayman ABA. Our intensive training program gives you the tools to start making a difference in the lives of children, in only 8 weeks!
During this 8-week program, you will participate in Cayman ABA's custom online training, as well as the Behaviour University's 40-hour online ABAT Training Course. In addition, you'll have 15-20 training sessions with our Clinical Supervisor and Senior Behaviour Technicians, where you get to practice the skills you've learned, as you prepare to run sessions according to protocol. Using a Behavioral Skills Training format, we will teach you each skill required of an ABAT, through instruction, modelling, role-play, rehearsal and feedback. At the end of week 8, you will demonstrate your skills by running a session that's evaluated by the Clinical Manager.
Individuals who are successful in scoring 80% on the Field Evaluation and Core Values evaluation at the end of week 8 will be offered a position as a Junior Behaviour Technician, with a starting salary of KYD$ 38,000 per annum. Individuals who do not pass the Field Evaluation or the Core Values evaluation will not be offered a position at Cayman ABA, and Cayman ABA will not continue the ABAT credentialing process. Individuals who don't pass the training will not be offered a position at Cayman ABA.
After being offered a position as a Junior Behaviour Technician, you will be offered a contract requiring a 2 year commitment to work at Cayman ABA as a Junior Behaviour Technician. Proceeding through credentialing as an ABAT confirms your acceptance of this commitment. Your next step will be to apply for the ABAT credential and pass the ABAT exam. Individuals who proceed with credentialing, but do not complete their 2 year contract with Cayman ABA are liable to repay training costs. Cayman ABA will not proceed with credentialing applications for those not taking up employment. Work as a Junior Behaviour Technician will commence upon successfully passing the examination and signing an employment contract with Cayman ABA.
