Head of IT and Software Development

The Head of IT and Software Development position is responsible for IT infrastructure and software and reporting development. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Responsibilities

• Developing the organization’s IT vision and translating it into actionable goals.
• Coordinating IT activities to ensure the availability of network services and data.
• Identifying future challenges in the IT landscape and developing mitigation strategies.
• Overseeing departmental budgeting and forecasting within the organization.
• Assisting with the development of a commercial insurance platform including ensuring compliance with consumer legislation.
• Determining the technology system architecture and functional design needed to support and meet company business goals.
• Assisting with the system reporting needs of reinsurance and financial tools and management of organisatonal data.
• Implementing effective technology governance processes.

Requirements

• 5+ years’ experience in the Reinsurance industry.
• Motivated self‐starter and self‐learner comfortable working in a dynamic environment with small teams;
• Ability to understand business drivers;
• High level of interpersonal and communication skills;
• Proven track record;
• Excellent communication skills.
• Flexible, reliable.
• Proactive and innovative in solving problems.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills.

The technical requirements of the role are

• Experience running a design and software process – business requirements, technical specification, project planning, implementation, testing & debugging, maintenance.
• Good understanding of NIST and SOX frameworks.
• Expert knowledge in computer science and IT to research IT solutions and identify ways to enhance existing operations.
• Proficient in architecting database, data model, ETL and web solutions using common design patterns and industry best practices.
• Proficient in architecting solutions for the C#, Blazor, ASP.NET and the .NET platforms.
• Proficient in common logical programming languages; SQL, DAX and MDX as well as scripting languages such as JavaScript and Python, (Java beneficial but not required);
• Proficient in reporting/dashboard design and development. PowerBI, SSAS and SSRS essential;
• Ability to provision and manage Azure cloud PaaS, SaaS and IaaS services to meet data and infrastructure requirements;
• TeamCity and Azure DevOps knowledge a bonus.

Salary: US$185,000 – US$200,000 per annum (commensurate with experience and qualifications) Benefits Include: Full health insurance coverage for the employee, statutory pension contributions paid by the employer, life and disability insurance, eligibility to participate in the company STIP/LTIP plans, 25 days annual leave.
