Job Description

The Assistant Restaurant Manager, will support the efforts of the Restaurant & Bar Manager in overseeing daily operations which include ensuring exceptional customer service, managing staff, and maintaining quality standards. This position performs various administrative tasks while upholding the restaurant's reputation and profitability.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in managing the day-to-day operations of the restaurant and bar, including opening and closing procedures, ensuring smooth service, and maintaining quality standards in food preparation and presentation.
  • Collaborate with Manager on efforts to recruit, train, and supervise restaurant staff.
  • Provide guidance, support, and ongoing training employees to ensure excellent customer service, pro-fessionalism, product knowledge, quality assurance and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Oversee staffing levels to ensure that guest service, operational needs and financial objectives are met.
  • Assist in administrative duties such as scheduling staff shifts, managing payroll, and maintaining rec-ords accurately.
  • Foster a positive work environment by promoting teamwork, communication, and morale among staff members. Collaborate with the management team to implement initiatives and improvements.
  • Utilize interpersonal skills to lead by example using positive influence and encouragement of others.
  • Thoroughly understand beverage controls including days on hand, perpetual inventory, bar pars, por-tion control, costs controls, beverage potentials, mix of sales analysis for beverage, issue & returns, food standards, and month end inventory.
  • Assist in overseeing inventory levels, monitoring stock, and placing orders for supplies. Ensure efficient usage of resources and minimize waste.
  • Support the Manager in monitoring expenses, controlling costs, and optimizing profitability. Contrib-ute towards the efforts to achieve or exceed budgeted goals.
  • Assist in budgeting, analyzing financial reports, and implementing strategies to enhance revenue.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and standards including assurance that all ap-propriate certifications are achieved. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation protocols in accordance with local health codes.
  • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction by addressing customer inquiries, concerns, and com-plaints promptly and professionally.
  • Maintain a welcoming atmosphere and uphold service standards. Display leadership in guest hospitali-ty; exemplify excellent customer service and create a positive atmosphere for guest relations.
  • Network with the local market to build relationships. Partake in charity events, industry related events and others deemed to beneficial to the restaurant if needed.
  • Perform other related duties as may be required from time to time

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a food & beverage leadership role.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a high-volume restaurant is essential.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in hospitality management or related field is a plus.
  • Relevant certifications in food safety or management training preferred.
  • Advance wine and spirits knowledge required.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and health standards.
  • Proficiency in restaurant management software and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Detail-oriented with good organizational skills, performing work accurately and efficiently.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to thrive in a busy, fast-paced team environment as well as work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including outside of normal business hours (i.e. evenings, weekends and public holidays)

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • May be exposed to a noisy, humid and hot environment. Temperatures will vary depending on weather and location of work being conducted (indoors/outdoors).
  • Frequent bending, reaching, pushing, pulling or otherwise move objects.
  • Frequently lift 25lbs, occasionally lift 50lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to walk throughout work shift to accomplish tasks
