Paralegal

Our client is seeking to recruit an experienced Paralegal to support two partners and the associates in the firm's general corporate and shipping practices. This role will cover an extremely diverse range of corporate legal areas, with a particular emphasis on shipping, so the successful candidate must be highly skilled and able to work independently and under pressure.

Duties will include

• Coordinating the formation of companies and limited partnerships, including advising clients in respect of required compliance documentation.
• Vessel registrations/deletions/financing - preparing documents; liaising with the shipping registry, clients, counsel, and yacht brokers, covering multiple registries, including Cayman Islands, Marshall Island, BVI; and meeting closing deadlines.
• Advising clients in relation to vessel certificates and licenses in accordance with shipping registry requirements and obtaining as necessary.
• Drafting and proofing legal documents, including the preparing of minutes and resolutions.
• Conducting legal research.
• Liaising with onshore counsel and clients in multiple jurisdictions.
• Attending to matter billing.
• Coordinating vessel database reconciliations.

The successful candidate will

• Possess a paralegal qualification and have a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional services experience; prior legal experience is a must.
• Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Be familiar with CRM and legal billing solutions.
• Demonstrate initiative, strong analytical and prioritization skills.
• Have demonstrated the ability to work independently, in particular within a shipping practice, organize large workloads and meet deadlines consistently.
• Pay exceptional attention to detail.

Salary & Benefits remuneration package, and the successful candidate can expect to earn Cl$70,000 to Cl$110,000 per annum, dependent on experience and qualifications, plus statutory benefits as required by law.
