The Bakery Chef plays an important role in supporting daily production across all property outlets, with responsibility for preparing a wide range of baked goods and pastry items for lunch and tea service, room amenities, and dinner service. This position involves carrying out essential kitchen responsibilities, including setting up workstations and ingredients, preparing sub-recipes, and ensuring that each final product is completed to a high standard and ready for service in a timely and organized manner.
Station set up and maintenance o Sanitation and cleaning set up o Use of proper tools and utensils for prep and cooking o Self-sufficient, good understanding of workflow, adaptable to new situations Food Preparation o Assist the chef by preparing all menu items for the restaurant, bakery, and amenities. o Knowledge of Bread making, Cake decorating, cookies, quick breads, and plating desserts. o Take daily inventory of all production items and records and tallies what has been depleted and produced. o Aids with ordering food items with the chef to ensure product is in-house. o Ensure food is stored away properly when not in use. o Has a full comprehension of the menu and is trained on the preparation of all ingredients. o Maintain station cleanliness and organization, continually throughout the shift. o Maintain labeling and proper stock rotation practices o Working from prep list o Multi-tasking and resourcefulness o Acute understanding of kitchen verbiage and vast recipe knowledge o Acute product knowledge and handling of ingredients Cooking o Proper cooking techniques and cleanliness o Tasting food while cooking, and before serving to guests.
