Job Description

Role Overview We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Support Assistant to join our team, working across Early Years, primary and KS3 playgrounds, the Early years and primary classrooms, and after-school care provision. This role combines playground supervision, classroom support with outdoor learning through Forest School, while also running a creative and engaging after-school care programme. The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting young children’s development, fostering independence, and creating a safe, stimulating environment both indoors and outdoors. Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise children on the playground, offering creative and engaging activities to support play and social development.
  • Plan and deliver weekly Forest School sessions
  • Complete Forest School risk assessments and maintain equipment to a high standard.
  • Promote independence, resilience, and outdoor learning skills through structured and child-led activities.
  • Support children’s wellbeing, behaviour, and safety at all times.
  • Help design and deliver an engaging after-school care programme with a balance of indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Prepare and organise resources for classroom and Forest School use.
  • Support teachers and pupils in class, particularly with phonics, maths, and writing.
  • Work collaboratively with the teaching team and contribute positively to the wider school environment including offering clubs such as gardening and eco clubs.
  • Attend relevant training and professional development opportunities.

Essential Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a primary school setting (UK or Cayman Islands curriculum preferred).
  • Forest School Level 3 qualification.
  • Experience working in Early Years and primary classrooms.
  • Ability to support learning across core subjects, particularly phonics, maths, and writing.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A proactive, flexible, and enthusiastic approach to working with children in our dynamic setting.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Pediatric First Aid certification.
  • Experience delivering Forest School sessions.
  • Teaching assistant qualification – level 2 or above
  • Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
