Kitchen Helper

The primary purpose is to correctly and quickly prepare food orders placed by the customers; to ensure pizzas and other baked food products coming out of the oven have been prepared according to the customers’ orders; separate and organize all items for each individual order; separate orders based on whether the product is for dine-in, carryout, or delivery customers. Orders are then either boxed for carryout or delivery, or given to the team for service in the dining room. Kitchen Helpers must also prepare in advance the items needed to prepare Pizza Hut products sold. Washing dishes and other cleaning, are part of this post. Will perform all other responsibilities as directed by the business, or as assigned by Manager or Supervisor on duty.

Essential Functions

• Turn on necessary equipment at pre-opening used in preparing customer orders
• Review food prep list
• Make and prepare dough for different types of pizzas
• Prepare sauce for pizzas following standard recipes
• Prepare other food items as needed
• Store prepared items in the walk-in refrigerator until needed
• Operate computer / POS system to see customer orders
• Make products per the customers' orders. This includes such items as pasta, garlic bread, sandwiches, wings, breadsticks and pizzas
• Coordinate preparation of items ordered, so that all items ordered are prepared quickly and correctly and are ready at the same time
• Sweeping and mopping floors
• Refilling the make table, reach-in cooler and walk-in refrigerator
• Cleaning the make table, reach-in cooler or other equipment
• When the restaurant closes, the person responsible for this position cleans up and closes down their work area
• May perform other duties during the shift, as assigned by the Manager or Supervisor on duty

Requirements

• Must have a clean police clearance certificate with no criminal charges
• Must have own transportation to work
• Be able stand on feet for long periods of time
• Clean and stock work areas
• Work split shifts, nights, days, weekends and public holidays between Seven Mile Beach and Countryside locations
• Previous kitchen experience preferred (a pizza kitchen environment an asset)
• Food safety knowledge and skills
• Good hospitality, communication skills in person or digitally, with strong reading & math skills
• Be efficient and accurate on the make table.
• Able to lift 50 pounds
• Be able to perform or learn to perform the essential functions of the position, and do so at an acceptable pace
• Mental alertness - Position involves tracking the progress of items as they are being prepared; and quickly and accurately determining flow of products out of the oven
• Must possess sufficient mental ability/intelligence to work effectively without supervision or assistance and to perform the job functions in a consistent and reliable manner
• Experience with Aloha Restaurant software an asset
• Must pass Pizza Hut International Certification online and written tests
