Forthlane Partners is an independent investment firm serving ultra-high-net-worth families, foundations, and institutions through an OCIO model. We build and manage institutional-grade portfolios across public and private markets, with a focus on capital preservation, global diversification, and long-term compounding. We are seeking a Portfolio Manager to join our investment team. This role sits at the intersection of portfolio construction, manager selection, and client portfolio management. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving investment outcomes while supporting a sophisticated client base. Role Summary This is a broad, high-responsibility role with exposure across asset allocation, fund and manager selection, private investments, and client portfolios. You will work closely with senior members of the investment team to support portfolio construction and ongoing investment management across multiple funds, SMAs, and special purpose vehicles. The role also includes direct involvement in client portfolios, including trading, liquidity management, and investment proposal development. Key Responsibilities Asset Allocation & Market Research
Contribute to top-down asset allocation decisions across portfolios
Develop and maintain views on global markets and asset classes
Generate forward-looking return expectations and risk assessments
Support macro and thematic research efforts
Portfolio & Investment Management
Support the management of:
o pooled investment funds o special purpose vehicles (SPVs) o Client separately managed accounts (SMAs)
Monitor ~30 external managers and ETF exposures across asset classes
Conduct ongoing performance analysis and risk monitoring
Assist in valuation of private investments
Manager Selection & Due Diligence
Source and evaluate new investment opportunities across asset classes
Conduct investment and operational due diligence on external managers and direct investments
Build investment cases and present recommendations to the Investment Committee
Maintain relationships with existing and prospective managers
Client Portfolio Management
Analyze prospective client portfolios and support investment proposals
Assist in the construction and rebalancing of client portfolios
Execute trades and manage client liquidity needs
Support preparation of quarterly and annual client reporting materials
Participate in client meetings and ongoing portfolio discussions
Handle ad hoc client requests and portfolio-related analysis
Trading & Implementation
Execute trades across asset classes in line with portfolio strategy
Manage portfolio rebalancing and cash flows
Ensure accurate and timely implementation of investment decisions
Client Management & Capital Raising
Manage client relationships and perform review meetings
Attend networking sessions and make connections in an effort to raise money for the fund
Qualifications
8–10 years of experience in asset management, investment banking, consulting, or a family office / OCIO environment
Experience managing an institutional style investment fund
Strong understanding of multi-asset portfolios, including public and private markets
Experience with manager selection and due diligence preferred
Experience leading and investing in direct private transactions
Trading experience in an institutional setting
Demonstrated ability to analyze investments and synthesize complex information
Strong attention to detail with high standards for accuracy
Viewed as a thought leader in the investment community
Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
CFA designation
Bachelors Degree minimum in a quantitative field (math, physics, engineering)
Experience with alternatives (hedge funds, private credit, real assets, private equity)
Familiarity with portfolio construction and risk management frameworks
