Caregiver

On behalf of our Client, Minerva is seeking a qualified night Caregiver to assist an elderly individual recovering from a stroke in a private household. The role involves overnight personal care, medication administration, patient transfers and mobility assistance. Day care may also be required, including assisting with meals, running errands, and accompanying the patient to medical appointments. This role is not suitable for candidates unable to commit to working regular night shifts, weekends, and public holiday. Essential Qualifications & Requirements

• A recognised qualification in healthcare, nursing, or caregiving
• Minimum five years' experience providing direct clinical patient care
• Valid driver's licence with a clean driving record
• Clean police clearance certificate
• BLS (Basic Life Support) and First Aid certification
• Full discretion and trustworthiness
• Must be comfortable working overnight shifts on a sole-charge basis

Experience

• Medication administration and patient safety protocols
• Patient transfers, manual handling, and mobility assistance: applicants must be physically capable of assisting a physically dependent patient
• Familiarity with dysphagia and associated feeding & safety protocols
• Ability to recognise signs of secondary stroke or medical deterioration and to respond appropriately
• Familiarity with aphasia and communication difficulties
• Ability to assist with physiotherapy exercises as directed by a treating therapist
• Caring for elderly patients in a private household or residential setting
• Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable adults in a position of trust
