Under the guidance and supervision of the relevant Head of Key Stage, Subject Leaders and the PLT, and in close collaboration with equivalent teachers, learning support staff and a learning assistant, you will be expected to effectively lead a primary school classroom of no more than 25 children. This will include the planning and delivery of lessons guided by revised English National Curriculum (2014) as well as carrying out the professional duties and responsibilities of a teacher as outlined in the subsequent sections.
Consistently planning and providing child-centered learning experiences guided by the revised English National Curriculum (2014) which are appropriately relevant, engaging, challenging and balanced and which seek to develop children’s ownership of learning. Adapting teaching methods and strategies to ensure all children are suitable challenged in order to meet their full potential, to consistently and successfully access all areas of the curriculum, and to promote positive attitudes towards learning across the curriculum. Maintaining accurate and current records of children’s attainment and progress while considering a variety of agreed upon forms of assessment data to inform coherent and cohesive next steps. Consistently and competently implementing age-appropriate assessments and analysing resulting data ensuring the timely employment of any necessary adaptations to planning and learning provision as a result Communicating children’s achievements, including academic progress and attainment, with a variety of stakeholders and within a variety of contexts Providing high-quality pastoral care to children across the school and in accordance with school policies including those of safeguarding and child protection Cultivating a sense of community and school spirit based on mutual respect, appreciation, trust and support where people value individuality while being drawn to become an integral part of something bigger than themselves. Developing and maintaining positive relationships and effective partnerships with parents/caregivers in support of children’s achievements and to enhance the sense of community. Carrying out assigned duties during nonteaching times of the day such as playtime, lunch duty. Providing voluntary extra-curricular activities or clubs over the course of the school year, one of which must be held after school.
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject together with an internationally recognized teaching certificate, such as a PGCE, a Bachelor of Education or H.Dip.Ed and a minimum of 5 years of relevant teaching experience. Excellent interpersonal skills and a high level of emotional intelligence, particularly in developing and maintaining effective and collaborative teams involving a variety of school stakeholders Current knowledge, understanding and experience of teaching the revised English National Curriculum (2014) Current knowledge and understanding of the revised English Statutory Framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage (2021) Proficiency with using Management Information Systems (e.g. SIMS, HUBmis, iSAMS) and a range of Microsoft Products, especially Word, Excel and Teams Excellent written and verbal communication skills Excellent organization, record keeping and time-management skills Island Primary is committed to safeguarding the welfare of our children and expects the same level of commitment from all our staff.
