The duties of a heavy equipment operator include preparing and operating heavy equipment to ensure the safe and efficient movement of materials and liaising with coworkers to ensure that projects are completed accurately. You will be required to conduct your duties in a safe, diligent manner at all times. Loading and offloading rocks, debris, and other materials from heavy equipment. Observing stipulated safety codes at all times. Communicating with coworkers to elucidate project specifications, as needed. Reporting injuries and other accidents to the line manager. Advising the line manager of requisite upgrades, repairs, and replacements. Aiding coworkers to ensure that the site is clean and organized at the end of each shift. Providing suggestions to refine workflow and boost efficiency. May lead, guide, and train new employees, interns, performing related work; may participate in the recruitment of employee, as appropriate to the area of operation. Responsible for organizing a shift in a safe manner Able to organize machines and operators for production as well as for development works in quarry sites. Able to analyze, prioritize, and organize the equipment accordingly. A flexible and firm personality that can make important and timely decisions. Optimize the machine efficiency and improve the productivity of all equipment.
3 to 4 years of experience operating a variety of heavy equipment. Ability to lift to 90 pounds. Exceptional manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination. A sound understanding of pertinent safety guidelines. The capacity to provide and follow directions. Sharp decision-making skills, particularly when under pressure. MUST HAVE a Group 4 Driver’s License Strong oral communication skills to interact with customers and other workers on the jobsite Basic writing skills are required to complete reports and other paperwork accurately. Physical ability to work in a strenuous work environment and strength to operate heavy equipment. Ability to work extended hours, weekends, and holidays as required.
