Job Description
Location: Savannah/Newlands BT, Cayman Islands Hourly Rate: CI $8.75 – $10.00 (based on experience) Employment Type: Part-Time (Afternoons, Evenings & Occasional Weekends) Work Permit: Shared permit possible Position Overview We are seeking a caring, responsible, and proactive babysitter to provide attentive care for a 2-year-old girl child (turning 3 in July). The ideal candidate will support the child’s early development through engaging, educational, and nurturing activities while maintaining a safe and structured environment.
Key Responsibilities
Childcare & Development
Plan and engage the child in age-appropriate activities to promote:
o Fine motor skills development o Alphabet recognition o Early reading and writing skills o Number identification and counting
Encourage creativity, play-based learning, and social development
Maintain a consistent routine and supportive environment
Daily Care
Pick up and care for the child after preschool
Prepare and serve nutritious meals and snacks on time
Ensure proper hygiene, rest time, and overall well-being
Provide full-day care (approximately 6:30 AM – 5:00 PM) when the child is sick or unable to attend preschool
Household Support (Child-Focused)
Light housekeeping twice weekly, including:
o Sweeping and mopping floors o Laundry (washing, folding, and packing away) o Minimal ironing o Washing child’s dishes
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the child’s room
Periodic deeper cleaning tasks, including:
o Dusting windows and fans (monthly) o Deep cleaning of refrigerator (every 3 months) o Other duties may arise and be included
Additional Duties
Run occasional errands such as grocery shopping (if required)
Assist during preschool breaks (e.g., summer), with potential for additional hours
Work Schedule
Primarily afternoons and evenings
Occasional weekends
Full-day shifts required when child is unwell or during school breaks
Requirements & Qualifications
Previous childcare or babysitting experience; minimum of 3-5 years preferred
Genuine love for working with young children
Ability to create engaging and educational activities
Honest, trustworthy, and dependable
Punctual and reliable
Strong communication skills:
o Clear spoken English o Ability to read and understand written instructions
Ability to work independently and use initiative
Physically able to keep up with an active toddler
Minimal use of electronic devices (phone, tablet, iPad, TV, etc.) to entertain child
Minimal use of phone when caretaking child
Additional Preferred Qualities
Valid Cayman Islands driver’s license, current insurance and own reliable vehicle (highly preferred due to limited public transport)
o Gas allowance can be discussed and agreed if errands, such as grocery runs are required
Basic knowledge of child nutrition and meal preparation
First Aid and CPR certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)
Patient, nurturing, and attentive personality
Organized and detail-oriented
Flexible and adaptable schedule

Caymanians preferred
Applicants must have legal right to work in the Cayman Islands (e.g., Caymanian, Permanent Resident, or married to a Caymanian) will be given preference
