Job Description

Youth Pastor Purpose: The Youth Pastor provides pastoral leadership, discipleship, and ministry oversight for students from Year 7 through university and young adulthood, partnering with parents and church leadership to develop mature followers of Jesus Christ. Educational and Ministerial Qualifications Theological Education

  • A bachelor’s degree in theology, Biblical Studies, Christian Ministry, Student

Ministry, or a related discipline is strongly preferred. Formal seminary training is highly desirable. Equivalent ministry experience and demonstrated. theological competency may be considered where formal education is. lacking. Experience in Student Ministry

  • A demonstrated ability to lead, teach, and disciple young people from

students in Year 7 through young adults, with 3 - 5 years of experience.

  • Experience in organizing student events, Bible studies, mission trips, or

camps is a strong plus. Pastoral Leadership

  • Ability and desire to teach sound biblical messages.
  • Pastoral care skills—visiting, counseling, partnering with parents/guardians, and guiding young people.
  • Missional mindset to disciple believers as well as reach unbelievers.

Biblical and Spiritual Qualifications

  • Genuine, growing relationship with Christ.
  • A clear testimony of salvation and a growing relationship with God.
  • Demonstrates the fruit of the Spirit as described in Galatians 5.
  • Above Reproach
  • Meets the biblical qualifications for pastoral leadership as outlined in 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9
  • A life marked with integrity, holiness, and accountability in both private and

public life.

  • Rooted in Scripture and Sound Doctrine
  • Competent in managing time, volunteers, and ministry budgets.
  • Recruit, equip, mentor, and shepherd a team of adult volunteers committed to discipline students.
  • Understand how student ministry integrates with the church’s larger mission.
  • Can think strategically and develop long-term discipleship goals for spiritual

growth from preteen to young adult.

  • Comfortable using common ministry and productivity software, including.

Microsoft 365, Planning Center, Canva, and other ministry management tools.

  • Serves under the authority of the Senior Pastor with humility and

Specific Responsibilities

  • Develop and lead a comprehensive discipleship strategy that intentionally moves

students toward spiritual maturity through biblical teaching, mentoring, evangelism, small groups, leadership development, and service opportunities.

  • Plan, organize, direct, and evaluate the youth ministries of CIBC, such as:
  • Sunday School and other discipleship programs
  • Friday Night Youth Meetings, trips to youth camps/retreats, fellowships, recreational activities, and mission trips
  • Work with the church staff, leadership, and volunteers to provide leadership to a

comprehensive student ministry program through evangelism and discipleship.

  • Be capable of performing the physical requirements of the role, including

transporting equipment, driving church vehicles where appropriate, and participating in camps, retreats, mission trips, and outdoor activities.

  • Provide ministry to parents of students in alignment with other church initiatives
  • Comply fully with all church safeguarding, child protection, and safety policies and

Procedures.

  • Assist and work with the Senior Pastor and Associate Pastor to provide pastoral

care, i.e., hospital ministry, emergency response, and pastoral care visits.

  • Serve as a support minister to various ministries within the congregation.
  • The Youth Pastor may be asked to assist in preaching at appointed times (if applicable), participating in marriage services and funerals, and counseling, or other special events as required.
  • In consultation with church leaders, Senior Pastor and Associate Pastor, prepare an annual budget to be recommended to the Finance Committee, complying with all.

  • Assist with the coordination of training and conference programs.
  • Support the planning and coordination of discipleship ministries in alignment with

the church calendar and focus areas.

  • Work with church leaders and staff to develop a strategic plan as part of the

corporate strategic plan for CIBC including ministry goals, organization, leadership, facilities, finances, and administrative processes for the Student Ministry.

  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Senior Pastor or Associate Pastor.
