Job Description
Lead exceptional custom homes in Grand Cayman and take ownership of the field. Tranel Group is looking for an experienced, hands-on Construction Superintendent to lead day-to-day field execution on high-end, ground-up custom residential projects. This is a site-first leadership role: you will plan the work, drive the schedule, coordinate foremen and trades, resolve field issues, enforce safety and quality, and keep the project moving from structure through final handover. For a superintendent who has spent years delivering complex, detail-driven construction and is ready for greater ownership and visibility, this is an opportunity to bring that experience to Grand Cayman and directly influence how exceptional projects are built. Why This Opportunity Stands Out
Field ownership: take responsibility for daily site execution and turn project plans into safe, organized and productive work in the field.
Build one-of-a-kind work: focus on custom, high-end residential construction where sequencing, craftsmanship, detailing and final presentation matter.
Direct influence: work closely with the Construction Manager and company leadership, make field decisions and drive solutions before issues affect schedule or quality.
Lead strong teams: coordinate foremen, subcontractors and trades while setting clear expectations for productivity, workmanship, safety and accountability.
No Cayman Islands personal income tax, allowing the compensation package to compare differently from many higher-tax jurisdictions.
Live and work in Grand Cayman, with year-round warm weather, world-class beaches and an outdoor island lifestyle outside of work.
About Tranel Group Tranel Group is a General Contractor based in Grand Cayman specializing in high-end residential and commercial construction. We take a hands-on, collaborative approach with a strong focus on craftsmanship, quality, organization, accountability and attention to detail. Our expectation is straightforward: plan the work, solve problems early, communicate clearly, hold the team accountable and deliver work that everyone involved can be proud of. The Role You will take responsibility for the day-to-day field leadership and execution of active construction projects. Working closely with the Construction Manager, you will lead foremen, site teams, subcontractors and trades while coordinating with consultants, vendors and suppliers to keep work safe, sequenced, productive and on schedule. You should be equally comfortable walking the site, reviewing drawings and details, building a short-term look-ahead plan, challenging a subcontractor on workmanship or manpower, coordinating an inspection, solving a sequencing issue and reporting clearly on progress, constraints and next steps. What You Will Own
Lead day-to-day site operations from active construction through closeout and handover.
Coordinate foremen, site teams, subcontractors and trades and establish clear daily priorities.
Develop and drive daily and weekly look-ahead plans aligned with the overall project schedule and critical milestones.
Plan construction sequencing, manpower, access, site logistics, materials, equipment and deliveries before they become constraints.
Read and coordinate architectural, structural, MEP and shop drawings and identify conflicts or missing information before work proceeds.
Monitor subcontractor manpower, productivity, workmanship and performance and hold teams accountable for commitments.
Maintain high standards for safety, quality control, organization, protection of finished work and site cleanliness.
Conduct regular field inspections and ensure deficiencies are corrected promptly and before subsequent work conceals them.
Coordinate inspections, testing, punch lists and field closeout activities.
Maintain accurate daily logs, progress records, site photographs and required Buildertrend/project documentation.
Communicate progress, risks, delays and required decisions proactively to the Construction Manager and escalate issues early.
Lead site coordination with ownership and follow-through; identify problems, propose practical solutions and drive them to completion.
Requirements
5+ years of progressive site leadership experience with a General Contractor as a Construction Superintendent role.
Proven experience delivering ground-up custom or high-end single-family residential construction from site preparation and foundations through finishes and final handover.
Strong hands-on understanding of construction sequencing, reinforced concrete structure, building envelope, MEP coordination and high-end finishes.
Experience leading foremen, multiple subcontractors, trades and site teams while maintaining schedule, safety and quality.
Ability to develop and drive short-term look-ahead plans and coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, logistics and inspections.
Ability to read and coordinate architectural, structural, MEP and shop drawings and specifications.
A high standard for workmanship, detailing, protection of completed work and final presentation.
Proven ability to identify field problems, make sound decisions and drive solutions without requiring constant direction.
Strong leadership and communication skills with the confidence to set expectations and hold teams and subcontractors accountable.
Caribbean or island-logistics experience is an advantage.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction/project management software. Microsoft Project, Bluebeam and Buildertrend experience are assets.
Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a related discipline.
Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required.
Relocation to Grand Cayman is required.
Who Will Thrive in This Role This role suits a field leader who takes ownership naturally. You do not wait for every issue to be assigned; you understand what must happen next, plan ahead, establish priorities and keep the site moving.
Hands-on, proactive and accountable.
Calm under pressure and comfortable making timely field decisions.
Highly organized and disciplined in planning and follow-through.
Strong in construction sequencing, field coordination and quality control.
Confident leading foremen, subcontractors and diverse trades.
Professional when working with clients, architects, engineers, inspectors and consultants.
Detail-oriented with high standards for craftsmanship, safety, cleanliness and finished work.
Able to adapt to the realities of building on an island, including procurement, lead times, logistics and weather.
Interested in meaningful responsibility and being directly accountable for what happens on site.
