Performance Automotive Ltd.is seeking a full-time reliable, organized, and motivated Auto Painter. This person will be responsible for completing high-quality vehicle body refinishing work from the initial assessment through to the finished paintwork. The employee must be capable of working independently and managing the complete non-structural repair process, including panel repair, panel replacement, surface preparation, color matching, painting, blending, polishing, assembly, and final quality control. The position primarily focuses on non-structural collision damage, replacement panels, cosmetic body repaints and professional automotive refinishing. Primary Responsibilities
Inspect vehicles and assess visible body and paint damage.
Identify required repairs, replacement panels, materials, and refinishing procedures.
Report additional or previously concealed damage to management before proceeding.
Remove and reinstall body panels, trim, lamps, mouldings, bumpers, glass-related components, and other parts required to complete repairs.
Repair dents, scratches, corrosion, and other non-structural body damage.
Replace and accurately align damaged panels and related components.
Confirm proper panel gaps, body lines, fitment, and operation before refinishing.
Prepare metal, plastic, aluminium, and previously painted surfaces for refinishing.
Perform sanding, filling, masking, priming, sealing, and other required preparation work.
Mix and match paint according to the manufacturer’s formula and the vehicle’s existing finish.
Apply primer, basecoat, clearcoat, and other refinishing products in accordance with manufacturer procedures.
Blend adjacent panels when required to achieve an acceptable colour match.
Repair and refinish plastic components, including bumper fascias, where appropriate.
Correct paint imperfections through sanding, polishing, and finishing.
Reassemble repaired vehicles carefully and verify that all removed components have been properly reinstalled.
Complete a final inspection of workmanship, paint finish, panel alignment, cleanliness, and vehicle operation.
Maintain accurate records of work completed, labour time, materials used, and any additional repairs identified.
Provide management with regular updates regarding repair progress, delays, parts requirements, and completion dates.
Protect customers’ vehicles and personal property while repairs are being performed.
Keep the bodywork area, preparation area, paint booth, tools, and equipment clean and organized.
Properly maintain spray equipment, paint systems, sanding equipment, and personal protective equipment.
Follow all workplace safety, fire-prevention, ventilation, chemical-handling, and environmental procedures.
Produce consistent paint colour, texture, gloss, and finish.
Maintain accurate panel alignment, body lines, and panel gaps.
Complete assigned work within reasonable production timeframes.
Notify management promptly of delays, additional damage, mistakes, or quality concerns.
Correct workmanship deficiencies for which the employee is responsible.
Maintain an orderly, safe, and productive work environment.
Cooperate professionally with technicians, service advisors, parts personnel, and management.
Required Qualifications, Documentation, and Experience
Minimum of five (5) years of professional automotive body repair and refinishing experience.
Demonstrated ability to complete repairs from initial bodywork through final paint and polishing.
Strong knowledge of panel repair, replacement, preparation, colour matching, blending, and refinishing techniques.
Experience working with modern vehicle materials and refinishing systems.
Ability to identify repair paint requirements and additional hidden damage, ability to use body repair, preparation, paint, and polishing equipment safely and ability to understand and follow written estimates, repair instructions, and manufacturer procedures.
Good communication, organization, and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Personal hand tools appropriate for the position.
Must provide a valid Police Clearance Certificate and provide a valid Traffic Clearance Certificate.
Must hold and provide proof of a valid driver’s licence.
All required documents must remain valid and may be subject to verification by Performance Automotive Ltd. Employment is conditional upon the applicant providing satisfactory documentation and maintaining any licences, clearances, or authorizations required for the position. Salary range will be CI$10 to CI$16 per hour depending on qualifications, knowledge, and experience. (40 hours per week). All benefits will be provided in accordance with Cayman Islands labor law.
