Professional Architect & Team Leader

City Design Architect is a new dynamic, forward-thinking architectural firm based in Grand Cayman, dedicated to excellence in design, integrity, and innovation. Role Overview A highly experienced Architect to lead our architectural team in Grand Cayman. This person will oversee design, manage project delivery, mentor future staff, and coordinate with clients, consultants, and contractors. The ideal candidate combines strong leadership, technical expertise, and a passion for architecture in a tropical/island context. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the architectural design process from concept through to construction.
• Manage and mentor a team of architects, designers, and interns.
• Coordinate with clients, contractors, engineers, and other stakeholders.
• Develop design deliverables (schematic design, design development, construction documents) that meet client requirements and local regulations.
• Oversee quality assurance and control of design outputs.
• Ensure compliance with Cayman Islands building codes, planning authorities, and environmental considerations.
• Prepare and manage project budgets, timelines, and resource allocations.
• Participate in business development help prepare proposals, pitch to clients, and expand our market presence.
• Promote sustainable design practices and innovation.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in architecture from a recognized/accredited institution.
• Professional Registered Architect, Royal Institute of British Architects or equivalent.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant architectural experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or team-management role.
• Proven experience managing full architectural project cycles: concept, design development, construction documentation, and construction administration.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating design excellence, creativity, and technical competence.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Cayman Island work experience and/or tropical storm-prone environments are a plus.
• Good knowledge of local construction techniques, building methodologies, systems, and site requirements.
• Good knowledge of local zoning, building codes, planning, and permitting processes.
• The candidate should be proficient in the use of relevant software such as Revit, AutoCAD, BIM Collaboration, and BIM coordination.
• Knowledge of Project Management tools and qualifications would be advantageous.

• Salary: CI 180,000 per annum

Work Hours

• 40 hours per week, standard office hours, with flexibility as required for project
