Job Description

National Cement Ltd. T/A Kirk Concrete Invites qualified candidates to apply for the position of Marine Logistics Supervisor.

Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible to supervise the marine logistics of bulk and break-bulk raw materials, including:

Assisting the Operations Manager with

  • arranging vessel arrivals in loading ports, by coordinating with suppliers, port agents and crew,
  • clearing incoming vessels through Cayman Customs (and the COLS system),
  • preparing, updating and reporting the berthing schedule for each discharge in Cayman,
  • arranging berthing assistance, by coordinating with pilots, pilot boats and tugs, and

Assisting the Cement and Aggregates Materials Supervisor with

  • arranging vessel arrivals in discharge ports, by coordinating management, crew, Port Authority, Department of Customs and Department of Agriculture,
  • clearing incoming vessels through Port Customs, Port Authority, Department of Agriculture,
  • assisting with the operation of all plant equipment used to discharge, as necessary,
  • scheduling truckers and controlling the haulage from the port to the storage sites,
  • monitoring the speed of the entire discharge cycle and optimizing for efficiency,
  • notifying management of any potential or current breach of safety policy for unloading operations,
  • enforcing company’s spill response plans,
  • assisting with any emergency maintenance and troubleshooting onshore unloading equipment and terminal / depot storage equipment, as necessary,
  • reporting and coordinating all repairs and servicing of unloading equipment with the Maintenance team,
  • procuring and and arranging delivery of supplies and materials needed by vessels calling Cayman,
  • clearing vessels for departure through Cayman Customs and Port Authority,
  • clearing vessel personnel through airport and seaport Immigration as required,
  • transporting vessel personnel in Cayman as required, and
  • other duties as required by management.

This is not an entry-level position. The Marine Logistics Supervisor is a computer-intensive role and is key to the shipping and importation of raw materials. This role coordinates the work of other personnel and reports to the Cement and Aggregates Materials Supervisor. Regular operating hours are from 7:00AM to 4:00PM Monday through Friday and 7:00AM to 12:00PM Saturday (45 regular hours per week, 195 average regular hours per month). 24/7 availability is critically important for this role. All employees are subject to random testing for drugs and alcohol. We are seeking a motivated self-starter who enjoys the challenges of continuous improvement and brings meaningful and verifiable expertise to the Company. At a minimum, candidates must demonstrate:

  • minimum education of Associates Degree with focus on business, onshore logistics or maritime logistics,
  • minimum of five years of supervisory experience in (a) inventory planning and ordering and in (b) shipping, warehousing and/or logistics,
  • proficiency in the English language, including clear and effective tow-way communications, both verbally and in writing,
  • competence in using spreadsheet and word processing software, and
  • current Cayman Islands driver’s license.
