Job Description

Job Summary The dynamic Maintenance Engineer (Overnight) will be responsible for independently managing and executing all overnight maintenance operations at our luxury Resort. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, this essential role ensures the uninterrupted functionality, safety, and premium presentation of the entire property during the overnight hours (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM) through rapid response to guest and operational requests, skilled multi-trade repairs, preventive maintenance, emergency handling, and strict adherence to safety and quality standards in a high-end hospitality environment. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled repairs and maintenance across multiple trades, including plumbing (leaks, fixtures, drains), wall vinyl repair/replacement, electrical (lighting, outlets, switches), HVAC (troubleshooting units, filters, thermostats), mechanical equipment, and minor carpentry (furniture fixes, door adjustments, trim work). Respond to all maintenance requests (guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house, mechanical rooms) within 15 minutes of notification; diagnose issues quickly and complete repairs accurately and efficiently to minimize disruption.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and tasks during overnight hours on HVAC systems, boilers, chillers, pumps, ventilation, electrical panels, plumbing lines, and other critical building systems to ensure reliability and energy efficiency.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions using diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and safe practices; escalate complex issues to the Maintenance Manager or on-call supervisor as needed.
  • Log all work performed accurately in the maintenance system, including time spent, parts used, issue description, resolution details, and completion status; maintain detailed records for follow-up and reporting.
  • Respond promptly to emergency calls during overnight shifts, including after-hours guest room issues, public area safety concerns, equipment failures, or power/water disruptions.
  • Assist with minor renovations, fixture installations, painting/touch-ups, and special projects as directed, ensuring work meets luxury brand quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop, tools, and work areas; monitor and report low stock levels of commonly used parts and materials.
  • Ensure full compliance with local building codes, fire safety regulations, occupational health and safety standards, hotel policies, hazardous material handling, and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Interact courteously and professionally with guests when performing in-room repairs; explain work being done and minimize inconvenience.
  • Collaborate with Front Office, Housekeeping, Security, and other departments to coordinate access, prioritize urgent requests, and support overall hotel operations during overnight hours.
  • Participate in shift handovers, morning briefings, and departmental meetings to communicate completed work, pending items, and any overnight incidents.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned as business demands require. The employee is expected to work in other areas of the hotel when needed to assist in operations and perform job duties not necessarily contained in this job description.

Job Requirements

  • 1-2 years’ experience in hotel maintenance, including renovations and multi-trade repairs in a full-service hotel or resort environment.
  • Strong technical skills and hands-on expertise in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, mechanical systems, wall vinyl application/repair, and minor carpentry.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently as the primary language used in the workplace.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced, high-pressure overnight environment.
  • Goal-oriented and results-driven mindset with a strong sense of urgency and attention to detail.
  • Prior experience with the Westin brand or Marriott properties is a plus.
  • Physical capability to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly, climb ladders, work in confined spaces, bend, kneel, and stand for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work overnight shifts (11:00 PM – 7:00 AM), evenings, weekends, public holidays, and on-call duties as required by business needs.
  • Valid driver’s license preferred (if required for property-related tasks).
  • Commitment to safety protocols and procedures to protect guests, colleagues, and property.
