JOB VACANCY: CARPENTER / STEEL FIXER Employer: Leslie's Construction & Maintenance Services Location: George Town, Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands Job Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week) Rate of Pay: CI$12.00 per hour Benefits: Health Insurance, Pension, and Paid Vacation (as mandated by Cayman Islands Law) Job OverviewLeslie's Construction & Maintenance Services is seeking a reliable, skilled, and versatile Carpenter / Steel Fixer to join our team on residential and commercial building projects across Grand Cayman. The ideal candidate must possess comprehensive knowledge of construction methodologies and demonstrate dual expertise in both carpentry framing/formwork and structural steel reinforcement. Key Duties & ResponsibilitiesBlueprint Interpretation: Read and accurately interpret architectural blueprints, structural engineering drawings, and technical specifications to determine dimensions and project requirements. Structural Carpentry: Measure, cut, shape, and assemble wood and timber materials to construct structural frameworks, roof trusses, floor joists, wall partitions, and custom concrete formwork. Steel Fixing & Reinforcement: Cut, bend, tie, and position steel reinforcement bars (rebar) and mesh inside concrete forms to ensure structural integrity for foundations, beams, columns, and slabs. Site Preparation & Safety: Erect secure scaffolding, shoring, and bracing while strictly following Cayman Islands Building Code standards and on-site health and safety regulations. Quality Assurance: Use precision measurement and leveling instruments to verify structural alignments, plumb lines, and elevations against project specifications. Teamwork & Guidance: Collaborate effectively with project managers, site engineers, and trade crews, providing technical guidance to junior team members to ensure efficient project delivery. Qualifications & Requirements Extensive hands-on experience in carpentry, structural steel fixing, and general building construction. (Note: While senior/extensive trade background is preferred, qualified candidates with 5-6 years of verified relevant experience may also be considered.)Vocational qualification/certification in General Construction or a related trade is strongly preferred. Proven ability to read complex blueprints and construction drawings independently. Strong physical stamina, dexterity, and commitment to safe job-site practices.
