Thatch and Barrel Restaurant is seeking an energetic and experienced food and beverage server for our venue located at Pedro St. James in Savannah. Thatch and Barrel is a restaurant serving food and drinks Tuesday through Sunday and is a frequent event venue for weddings, corporate, family related and other various events and celebrations. Although at times the venue can be relatively quiet for regular weekly service, the frequent events that we host require an experienced and fast paced team member for a variety of styles of service, including multi course formal plated dinners, buffets, passed canapes and cocktail and wedding food and beverage services, as the clients for some events can be very demanding in terms of the level of service. As such, the candidate should have experience in event related food and beverage services including catering, canapes and formal and semi-formal dinner service. Familiarity with the points of service or training at a fine dining establishment is a great asset for this position. In addition please review the various requirements below to ensure that the position is a good fit for you. 2+ years of fine-dining, formal or semi formal is a requirement, A mentality of VIP guest service experience is important for success in the role, The location is in Savannah, Grand Cayman, so candidate should have a vehicle and be prepared to ensure there are no issues with arriving on time, Traffic can be an issue in this area around the time of dinner service and happy hour in particular so be prepared to plan accordingly, Flexible scheduling including weekends, holiday, and hours are days/nights are a necessity for us as the hospitality industry demands, at times, post event breakdown can run quite late into the early hours of the morning, Must have a positive attitude and be self-motivated to excel, Must have a strong knowledge of cocktails and wines, as this will be important for the business and for your teams sales performance and gratuity, Must be a quick learner and able to read and understand diverse event briefs based on the needs of the clients of the day, Should be comfortable with public speaking and able to manage crowds, Formal service attire, typically black pants, shirt, dress or similar will be required for certain events Must have a high level of catering and or banquet experience, Knowledge of safety and health regulations, Food Safe or similar certification would be a benefit, WSET or other formal training in this area would be a plus, but not a requirement, if you have familiarity with wine and spirits, Professional presentation and grooming standards is a requirement of our clients.
