Job Description

We are seeking a dynamic and talented individual to oversee our Product Development strategic priority which identifies issues and opportunities affecting stakeholders and devises practical, evidence-based solutions. Responsibilities

  • Liaise with the internal team, members and third parties to identify, document and propose solutions to, issues with existing financial services laws, regulations, policies and practices that, if eliminated, would confer some advantage on the jurisdiction and its stakeholders.
  • Liaise with the internal team, members and third parties to identify and document opportunities for new financial services laws, regulations, policies and practices that would strengthen the Cayman Islands market offering and alignment with international standards.
  • Create, and oversee the development of, a paper describing the issues and opportunities reported including:

o The issue or opportunity highlighted. o The extent of the current or potential future impact for stakeholders arising as a consequence of the issue. o Options for addressing the issue through private sector initiatives, legislative amendments, amendments to regulations and/or policy or process enhancements.

  • Coordinate consultation, ensuring that feedback is properly analysed and incorporated into final recommendations.
  • Maintain an “issues log” which captures all the issues and opportunities raised by members and other stakeholders, with a description and the current status.
  • Meet with government representatives and representatives of statutory authorities to communicate issues or opportunities and explore mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Monitor developments in international regulatory standards (e.g. FATF, OECD, EU, UK) and assess their implications for Cayman Finance and its members.
  • Work with our PR and marketing teams to develop articles highlighting the issue when constructive.
  • Advise the CEO of risks, emerging trends and potential strategic opportunities.
  • Support for other Product Development initiatives and projects as they arise.

Requirements and skills

  • An excellent academic background including a relevant bachelors/masters degree or professional qualification.
  • Proven working experience with at least ten years in regulatory compliance, law or policy development, including at least five years’ experience of the Cayman Islands financial services industry.
  • Strong understanding of international financial services standards (e.g., FATF, OECD, EU).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and diplomacy skills, with proven ability to manage complex stakeholder relationships across government, regulators and the private sector.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with experience leading multi-stakeholder initiatives through to completion.
  • Ability to represent Cayman Finance effectively in national and international forums, consultations, and working groups.
