Job Description

Progression Workforce on behalf of (Pillar Consultants Limited) is seeking an experienced Governance, Risk & Compliance (GRC) Consultant / Independent Director to manage a portfolio of regulated clients and lead high level governance, risk, compliance, and AML/CFT engagements. This senior role supports clients across the Cayman Islands, BVI, Anguilla, and the UK, delivering tailored, tech enabled compliance solutions with board level insight. As an Independent Director, you will provide governance oversight, fiduciary duties, regulatory assurance, and crisis leadership. You will contribute to board strategy, compliance monitoring, AML/CFT oversight, and regulatory engagement with bodies such as CIMA, FCA, and FSC. You may also support special situations, including governance transitions and interim appointments (e.g., MLRO/DMLRO). - Responsibilities

  • As primary contact, independently manage and develop a portfolio of regulated clients across sectors (e.g. Funds, Fiduciary, Insurance, Banking, VASP etc.).
  • Lead and deliver client projects including ongoing AML/CFT and compliance support and regulatory change initiatives.
  • Design and oversee compliance monitoring programmes with on-site reviews, remediation and reporting.
  • Draft policies, procedures, and compliance documentation, including training for implementation
  • Liaise with Regulators, Boards and Senior Management to provide timely, practical regulatory advice and communicate regulatory developments to clients.
  • Oversee AML/KYC onboarding programmes and assess AML governance frameworks and reporting lines.
  • Review enterprise risk management (ERM) frameworks.

Key requirements

  • This is a senior position that requires minimum 5 years of relevant multi-jurisdiction (e.g. FCA/CIMA), financial services/regulator experience in compliance consulting or a regulated environment
  • Strong practical understanding of FCA and CIMA regulations
  • Master’s degree educated or equivalent qualifications in Accounting, Law, Business, Finance, or Compliance
  • Compliance and/or Risk Management and AML qualifications (ACAMS, ICA Diploma, FRM etc,)
  • Experience delivering compliance solutions, audits, onsite inspections across financial services sectors (e.g. investments, insurance, banking, digital assets, etc.)
  • Ability to identify regulatory risks and implement practical solutions
  • At least 10 years’ board-level strategic input experience with relevant governance qualifications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong technical skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
