Veterinarian

Seven Mile Animal Centre (SMAC) is Cayman’s newest clinic providing veterinary medical and surgical services. Providing both fixed services at its clinic located in the Marquee Plaza and mobile services, SMAC aims to provide comprehensive care for four-legged family members and exotics (such as birds and reptiles), and provide the much needed support to their humans owners. SMAC is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and energetic Veterinarian / Veterinary Surgeon to join our team in providing outstanding 24/7 care. We provide exceptional client service, outstanding and comprehensive medical care including wellness services, emergency care, surgery, dentistry, exotic animal care, and more.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Competent in a range of surgical procedures - managing complex abdominal procedures and anesthesia protocols for patients with varying risk factors,
• Minimum 6 years of experience in small animal practice,
• Confident performing dental scaling, extractions and dental x-rays,
• Competent in diagnostic imaging e.g. x-ray and ultrasound
• Experienced and proficient in emergency and critical care
• Team player and/or confident working independently to provide detailed prognoses and treatment plans,
• Reviewing new medical treatment protocols - up to date with current medical treatments,
• Experienced with low stress handling practices,
• Supervision and management experience with veterinary and nursing staff
• 40 hours per week plus 24-hour on-call every 3 days to cover evenings, weekends, and holidays (+ in the case of colleague holiday/absence)
• Provide all patient care following the guidelines of AVMA and AAHA.
• Experience with advanced surgical procedures, oncology and/or exotic animal certification preferred.
• Attending at private residences to provide mobile in-house care as required and be comfortable in providing essential care outside of clinical settings (including dealing with owner reactions and concerns).
