Job Description

The quality assurance/quality controller (QA/QC) engineer ensures products and projects meet quality and technical standards by developing and implementing quality control procedures, performing inspections, testing materials, and documenting results. The QA/QC Engineer plays a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of construction projects, focusing on minimizing risks, ensuring compliance, and delivering successful outcomes for all stakeholders in accordance with contract documentation. Core responsibilities

  • Quality planning: Develop and implement QA/QC plans, method statements, and test plans for projects to ensure compliance with quality standards and contract requirements.
  • Inspection and testing: Conduct inspections and tests on materials, processes, and final products to verify they meet specifications. This can include testing for MEP and FP systems.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive records of all quality assurance and quality control activities. This includes material test certificates, inspection reports, and non-conformance reports.
  • Compliance and standards: Ensure adherence to company quality management systems (QMS) and relevant industry standards (e.g., ISO 9001) or working towards industry standards.
  • Collaboration: Work with project engineers, contractors, consultants, and clients to address quality-related issues, provide feedback, and ensure project requirements are met.
  • Problem resolution: Identify and help resolve quality issues, and manage the process for handling non-conforming materials or work.
  • Reporting: Report on the status of quality activities, document any issues, and provide recommendations for improvement to management.

Pre-Construction

  • Review and understand construction plans, specifications, and drawings.
  • Participate in site investigations and data collection.
  • Help prepare material estimates and cost calculations.
  • Assist with obtaining permits and other necessary documentation.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings and briefings.

Construction

  • Monitor construction activities for compliance with plans and specifications.
  • Perform basic quality control inspections of materials and workmanship.
  • Identify and report any safety hazards or discrepancies to MEP/FP project manager and the design lead.
  • Assist with surveying and setting out structures.
  • Prepare and maintain progress reports and documentation.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers on logistics and deliveries.
  • Assist with resolving minor issues and answering questions from workers.

Post-Construction

  • Assist with punch list items and final inspections.
  • Prepare as-built drawings and documentation.
  • Assist with closing out project paperwork and contracts.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Stay up-to-date on relevant building codes and safety regulations.
  • Learn and use construction software and tools.
  • Contribute to a positive and safe work environment.
  • Handle a wide range of tasks, encompassing some aspects of project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage technical reviews, validations, and approvals across relevant disciplines, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, and masterplans.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure efficient execution of permitting, licensing, inspection, and design compliance processes.
  • Implement and maintain robust quality assurance and control systems, conduct audits, and ensure all deliverables meet regulatory and performance standards.
  • Identify gaps and inefficiencies in workflows, develop and implement process improvements, and standardize operating procedures to enhance overall effectiveness.
  • Interpret technical codes and regulations, and support resolution of complex engineering and design challenges.
  • Prepare and present regular progress reports, maintain transparent documentation, and monitor operational activities using digital performance dashboards.
  • Establish clear communication protocols with staff, and external partners, and ensure stakeholder feedback is captured and addressed.
  • Support training, mentorship, and knowledge transfer initiatives to build team capacity and contribute to succession planning.
  • Ensure availability of necessary resources, tools, and systems to support successful project delivery, and promote automation and digital integration where applicable.

Qualifications

  • BSc or MSc degree in relevant engineering or technical discipline.
  • Candidates should have significant proven professional experience.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in the subject field with a strong record of achievements.
  • Proven ability to lead full programs and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent proficiency in discipline-specific software tools.

Remuneration and Benefits

  • Salary range KYD$5,000.00 to $7,500.00 per month
  • Contributory health and pension in accordance with the laws
  • Twenty-five days annual leave
  • One month paid sick leave
