Job Description

Our client, Another Chance Outlet, is a Caymanian-owned retail business specializing in the sale of new and slightly used clothing, kitchen wares, bedding, shoes, toys, and other household items. They are looking for a Cashier/Sales Assistant to help them on their business operation

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Customer Service:

o Greet customers as they enter the store and assist them in locating items. o Provide product information and recommendations to enhance the customer shopping experience. o Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and returns in a polite and professional manner. o Ensure customers are satisfied with their shopping experience and maintain a positive store environment.

  • Cash Handling and Transactions:

o Operate the cash register and process sales transactions accurately. o Handle cash, credit/debit card payments, and gift card transactions securely. o Ensure accurate change is given, when applicable. o Maintain a balanced cash drawer and prepare cash deposits at the end of shifts.

  • Stock Management:

o Assist with stocking shelves and maintaining product displays. o Ensure shelves are neatly organized and products are easy to locate.

  • Store Cleanliness and Organization:

o Ensure the store, including checkout areas, is clean, organized, and visually appealing. o Keep the sales floor tidy and assist with maintaining a safe, orderly work environment.

  • Sales and Promotions:

o Promote store specials, discounts, and loyalty programs to customers. o Upsell products and encourage additional purchases where appropriate. o Support promotional activities and events to drive sales.

  • Team Collaboration:

o Collaborate with fellow staff members to ensure the smooth running of store operations. o Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving sales and customer satisfaction.

  • Compliance:

o Ensure compliance with the store’s policies and procedures. o Follow safety and security protocols to prevent loss and ensure the safety of staff and customers. o Adhere to all legal regulations, including handling of alcohol (if applicable), tobacco, or other restricted products. ________________________________________

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Education:

o High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Experience:

o Previous experience in retail, cashiering, or customer service is a plus. (6 months) o Knowledge of POS systems, cash handling, and sales processes is an advantage.

  • Skills and Competencies:

o Strong interpersonal and communication skills. o Ability to handle customer complaints or concerns in a tactful and effective manner. o Attention to detail, especially when processing payments and handling cash. o Basic math skills for handling transactions and giving accurate change. o Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a positive attitude. o Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required.

  • Language Requirements:

o Fluency in English (both spoken and written) is a must. Additional languages may be advantageous in a multicultural setting like the Cayman Islands.

  • Work Environment:

o Ability to stand for long periods of time. o Physical ability to lift and move boxes or products (typically up to 30 lbs). o Willingness to work shifts, including weekends and public holidays, depending on the store's operating hours. ________________________________________ The working hours are Monday to Thursday 10:00AM to 7:00PM and Friday and Saturday 9:00Am to 7:00PM Salary ranges to CI$8.75 to CI$9.00 per hour and it depends on the work experience. Police Clearance and work references are essential to the role.
