A Baker’s Helper assists the baker in the daily preparation and production of baked goods while maintaining a clean, safe, and organized work environment. This role is essential to ensuring that breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, and other baked products are prepared efficiently and meet the company’s quality standards. Key responsibilities include measuring and weighing ingredients, mixing batters and doughs, preparing baking pans and trays, operating basic bakery equipment, and assisting with decorating and packaging finished products. A Baker’s Helper is also responsible for cleaning workstations, washing utensils and equipment, stocking ingredients and supplies, rotating inventory using first-in, first-out (FIFO) practices, and following all food safety and sanitation guidelines. The ideal candidate should have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. They should be able to follow recipes and instructions accurately, work effectively as part of a team, and communicate clearly with supervisors and coworkers. Physical stamina is important, as the position requires standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in warm kitchen conditions. Previous experience in a bakery, restaurant, or food service setting is an asset but is not required, as training may be provided. A passion for baking, a positive attitude, reliability, punctuality, and a commitment to producing high-quality products are essential for success in this role.
