Blackbeard’s Trading Company Ltd. (BTCL) is seeking a bright and enthusiastic individual to join our team as:

WINE SPECIALIST

The Wine Specialist helps to ensure that we deliver the highest customer services standards and will be responsible for but not limited to:

• Providing wine education to the public and staff members.
• Conducting product tasting sessions for the public and staff members.
• Driving sales through proper standards.
• Ensuring store opens and closes in accordance with set standards.
• Coaching, developing and supervision of store staff.
• Executing store merchandising in accordance with set standards.
• Maintaining adequate inventory levels.
• Providing guidance and direction to the store staff in the areas of: product knowledge, brand recognition, customer service standards, inventory management, merchandising, loss prevention and cash control.
• Remaining pleasant with customers, guests and team members and displaying a good-natured, cooperative attitude.
• Ensuring management decisions, initiatives and culture are implemented as scheduled.
• Completing other tasks, requests and instructions set out by management.

QUALIFICATIONS

• An associate’s degree or equivalent experience in related field.
• A minimum of three (3) years of experience in the wine industry.
• A minimum of three (3) years of retail supervisory experience.
• In-depth knowledge of wines from around the world with a WSET or Sommelier certification.
• Competent understanding of the fine art of food and wine pairing.
• Personable demeanor and excellent communication skills.
• Demonstrate understanding of customer service and sales support activities.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products and Counterpointe POS system.
• Proficient in product/brand management – visual merchandising, inventory control/management.
• Proven customer service is required.
• Must be willing to work late shifts, weekends and public holidays, able to stand for long periods of time
• A clear Police record and fluency in English is required.
