Location: Cayman Islands Jerk BBQ Hut is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Chef Assistant to join our culinary team. With a focus on excellence and efficiency, the successful candidate will support our Head Chef in delivering high-quality cuisine while maintaining the highest standards of kitchen safety and organization. Required Skills & Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 7 years of professional experience in a high-volume commercial kitchen or fine-dining environment. Technical Proficiency: Expert knife skills and mastery of various cooking techniques (sautéing, roasting, grilling, etc.). Food Safety: Deep understanding of HACCP principles and local Department of Environmental Health (DEH) regulations. Adaptability: Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Leadership: Strong communication skills with the ability to lead junior kitchen staff when the Head Chef is absent. Education: Professional culinary certification or diploma is preferred but not required if equivalent experience is proven. Duties & Responsibilities Food Preparation: Assist in the preparation of all menu items, including advanced prep work, portioning, and sauce production. Line Support: Manage a specific station during service, ensuring all dishes meet the company’s presentation and quality standards. Kitchen Management: Maintain a clean and organized workspace; assist with inventory rotation (FIFO) and stock ordering. Compliance: Ensure all food storage and preparation areas adhere to strict sanitation and safety guidelines. Collaboration: Work closely with the Head Chef to develop seasonal specials and refine existing recipes.
