Job Description

Job Title: Body Shop Manager Department: Body Shop Reports to: General Manager/Operation Manager Job Summary: This position if responsible for overseeing all operations within the body shop, ensuring high quality repairs, efficient workflow, and exceptional customer service. As well as managing technicians, coordinating repair schedules, maintaining safety and compliance standards, and driving overall shop performance. Key Responsibilities

  • Daily Operations Management — Oversee all body shop activities, including repair workflow, scheduling, and quality control.
  • Team Leadership — Supervise, train, and support body shop technicians, estimators, and support staff.
  • Repair Quality Assurance — Ensure all repairs meet manufacturer standards, safety requirements, and customer expectations.
  • Customer Communication — Provide updates, explain repair processes, and resolve concerns professionally.
  • Estimating & Approvals — Review estimates, work with insurance partners, and approve repair plans.
  • Inventory & Equipment Oversight — Monitor parts usage, order supplies, and ensure equipment is maintained and safe.
  • Compliance & Safety — Maintain industry safety standards; ensure proper documentation and procedures.
  • Financial Performance — Manage budgets, track KPIs, control costs, and maximize shop profitability.
  • Vendor & Insurance Relations — Build strong relationships with suppliers, insurers, and external partners.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of body shop experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of collision repair processes, refinishing, and industry standards.
  • Experience working with estimating software (e.g., CCC, Mitchell).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast paced environment.
  • Strong understanding of insurance procedures and DRP requirements.

Preferred Skills

  • Certifications such as I CAR, ASE, or OEM specific training.
  • Experience improving workflow efficiency and shop profitability.
  • Strong customer service background.
