Measuring, marking up, cutting, shaping, fitting and finishing timber. Using a range of hand and power tools. Installing floor joists, floorboards, roof trusses, and wall partitions. Fitting interiors such as staircases, doors, skirting boards, cupboards and kitchens. Drawing and working with technical drawings. Gaining knowledge of different types of wood and their uses. Carrying out jobs in dusty conditions or working outdoors in all weather and at height. Read and interpret blueprints/drawings to determine specifications and calculate materials required. Lay bricks, stone, or similar materials to build or refurbish walls, arches, and other structures. Apply and smooth mortar or other mixture over the work surface. Operate heavy machinery and tools, such as mixers, saws, drills, and blowtorches. Restore, clean, and repair existing masonary structures. Ensure structures are level and compatible with local codes and regulations. Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
