Farmer

The Farmer is responsible for the cultivation, maintenance, and harvesting of crops, as well as the general upkeep of farmland and agricultural equipment. This role requires physical stamina, practical farming knowledge, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. The Farmer ensures that crops are planted, maintained, and harvested efficiently to support agricultural productivity. Key Responsibilities Prepare land for planting by clearing, ploughing, and fertilizing soil Plant, cultivate, irrigate, and harvest crops Monitor crops for growth, pests, and disease and apply appropriate treatment when necessary Operate and maintain farming tools, machinery, and equipment Apply fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides safely and effectively Water crops and ensure proper irrigation systems are functioning Remove weeds and maintain clean and organized farm areas Harvest crops and prepare produce for storage, sale, or distribution Load, unload, and transport crops, tools, and supplies as needed Follow health and safety procedures while performing all farm duties Keep records of crop production, planting schedules, and farm activities Assist with general farm maintenance and other duties as assigned Skills and Qualifications Practical knowledge of farming and crop production Ability to operate farming equipment and tools Knowledge of irrigation, planting, and harvesting techniques Ability to identify crop diseases and pest issues Physically fit and able to perform manual labor for extended periods Ability to work in outdoor conditions and varying weather Reliable, hardworking, and self-motivated Good time management and ability to follow instructions Education and Experience Prior experience in farming (5-10 years), agriculture, or crop production preferred Basic knowledge of farm safety and equipment handling required Work Conditions Work is primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions Requires standing, bending, lifting, and walking for long periods May require early mornings, weekends, and extended hours during planting and harvest seasons
