Scuba Instructor/Guide & Boat Captain/Tour Operator

A start-up watersports company in Grand Cayman is seeking a qualified and experienced Scuba Instructor, Boat Captain & Tour Operator for full-time employment. This company is focused on family friendly marine tours specifically for families with young children. As such, the suitable candidate must have demonstrable experience teaching and guiding young children through marine interactions, and experience teaching children as young as 8 years old through introduction to scuba diving PADI courses. In addition, the successful candidate will have suitable training and qualifications in boat handling and have at least 8 years’ experience piloting boats (26 ft and larger) in the Cayman Islands. As families with young children will be our clientele, safety and operator experience are the highest priorities for recruitment, accompanied by excellent communication and customer service skills. The successful candidate must have a calm, kind, and welcoming demeanor, and be willing to work long hours on a flexible basis in high season. Qualifications in marine engine maintenance (or working knowledge at least) are also preferred. Knowledge of the marine life and ecosystem around Grand Cayman is also required.

Requirements

• Current PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer
• High School or equivalent education plus relevant PADI, boat handling and marine engine service certifications
• Clean Cayman Islands Full Driving License and own transportation required.
• Minimum 8 years’ experience in scuba instruction and guided diving with demonstrated experience instructing young children.
• Minimum 8 years’ boat handling experience (captain’s license preferred)
• Physically fit and able to lift heavy diving equipment.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills and a “can-do” attitude to work.
• Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays with schedule changes on short notice in high season.

Compensation

• Salary range: US$2,500 - US$4,000 per month commensurate with experience
• Health and pension benefits will be provided in accordance with Cayman Islands Law and eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
