STORE CLERK - BAKERY

Essential Key Responsibilities and Objectives

• Assist in unloading the merchandise;
• Transport stock for storage to stock areas;
• Bake breads, pastries, puff pastry, croissants, doughnuts, cakes, tortes and cookies by mass production;
• Open cartons and price items (if required) accurately;
• Control freshness by coding all products and pulling out of code merchandise daily;
• Wrap, package and price all products accurately and legibly;
• Move cardboard boxes to dumpster often;
• Keep store shelves fully stocked and clean according to tag allocations;
• Assist in building store displays;
• Maintain presentable and adequately filled shelves;
• Control level of damaged goods;
• Properly present assigned section prior to leaving at the end of scheduled shift;
• Maintain a clean and orderly work area fully instigating the ‘clean as you go’ policy;
• Observe all safety laws concerning lifting and moving products;
• Know product and product location;
• Greet all customers and be observant;
• Maintain good customer relations with prompt and courteous service;
• Keep knowledge updated regarding daily specials and general sale items;
• Be aware of any in store promotions or special events such as raffle prizes etc;
• Assist with store inventory planning and preparation;
• Observe policies and procedures established for the Bakery Department;
• Abide by all Company policies as stated in the Employee Handbook.

Supplemental Job Functions

• Ensure that you are fully aware of your schedule and report any required changes in advance of final schedule distribution;
• Maintenance of price and security protection program;
• Answer phones and take special orders;
• Monitor inventory of supplies and notify Bakery Manager when orders are required;
• Assist in baking of products.
