Job Description

  • Operational Efficiency

o Management of installation resources, equipment, materials, and processes to ensure that work is completed fully to the customers satisfaction, company expectations and contractual requirements. o Ensure work is carried out in accordance with Health and Safety legislation as applicable at the time. o Work closely with your appropriate line manager to ensure timely planning of the work in hand to meet customer expectations. o Work closely with other technicians to ensure that each job is completed in a timely fashion and within budget of quoted amount. o Ensure that all technicians are working productively to maximize the number of hours they are being paid for. Guideline is each technician must produce each week 37.5 hours of billable labour either from installation or service. Eliminate time wasted hanging about for materials or making trips back to the office to pick up stuff they forgot. o Liaise daily with Storekeeper to request materials to be issued to each technician as needed. Materials should be requested one or more days in advance, so that technician can pick it up and be out to the job no later than 8:20 a.m. o Carry out weekly inspections of ongoing installations to ensure high standards of installation are maintained. A report must be compiling of each inspection and placed in the Job Folder. o Maintain Folder for each ongoing installation with all information in it such as Quotation, Cost Sheet, Materials Issued to the Job (order tickets) and Labour used on the job, Punch List of work to be completed on each job, Site Visit Reports. o Invoice weekly completed installations in the Accounting Computer System and prepare dummy invoice for collections. Once invoice is prepared, it can be given to Accounts Receivable for collection. o Liaise with stores / purchasing department on regular intervals to ensure adequate installation stock levels are maintained.

  • Commercial Management

o Liaise with Sales Team to ensure that all installation jobs are estimated accurately. o Carry out site inspections and prepare quotes as needed. o Ensure that all installation jobs are installed within the agreed hours and margins. o Manage all installation overheads within agreed budgets and ensure that expenditure is minimized.

  • People Management

o Coordinate the installation and service junior technician workforce (including subcontractors) to ensure that everyone is clear as to what their job description is and what is expected of them in terms of customer service and productivity. Ensure that high standards are always maintained. o Ensure that all technicians are developed in respect of both technical and communication skills, with those not meeting the required standard being managed towards achieving this level. Where this is unsuccessful appropriate action must be taken in accordance with company disciplinary procedures.

  • Customer Ownership

Take ownership of the customer in all aspects relating to the installation process (i.e., installing on time, and to specification, communicating effectively, handing over systems, dealing with any customer complaints).

  • Communication

Always maintain a positive working attitude with personnel and demonstrate by example the need to see all departments as internal customers. Communicate with line management daily to ensure that progress and status of key performance indicators are being achieved.

  • General

To carry out other duties as directed by your line manager.
