Crane Operator

This section outlines the essential duties and responsibilities for the position of Crane Operator at City Services (Cayman) Ltd. Please note that the items listed below are general requirements and do not represent all duties expected of an operator. The Crane Operator may be required to learn or operate additional equipment owned by the company.

Responsibilities Include

• The operator is responsible for operating the crane in a safe and responsible manner.
• The operator must ensure that the crane is inspected and safe to start before any operation begins.
• Rigging personnel should be trained or the operator is required ensure that the rigging personnel understand proper rigging procedures and signals.
• The operator must ensure that all rigging is in good condition and properly maintained.
• The operator is responsible for checking and maintaining the hoist, cables, and operating sheaves to ensure proper maintenance.
• When the crane is not in use, the operator must ensure that all rigging, shackles, and chains are stored correctly.
• The operator will work with others to maintain the crane in optimum condition.
• The operator will assist with other on regular service and maintenance of the crane.
• The operator may be asked to operate other equipment for which they are qualified.
• The operator may be asked to train on other equipment owned or leased by the company.
• The operator is required to drive the crane from job site to job site, following all traffic laws.
• From time to time, the operator may be asked to work on other cranes with other operators, assist in delicate or special lifts, participate in various types of maintenance, or help train personnel.
• The operator is expected to attend and participate in daily safety meetings at job sites, whether held by the company or the general contractor.
• Crane operators will assist other operators in setting up cranes for operation at new job sites or locations.
• The operator may be requested to do work other than operating equipment from time to time.
• The operator must possess and maintain a Cayman Islands Class 4 license

Qualifications Required

• At least 5 years of experience operating hydraulic cranes ranging from 80 to 135 tons.
• Knowledgeable about safe working procedures and ensure that everyone involved in lifting or transport operations follows them.
• Defensive driving certification required.
• Able to instruct rigging technicians on proper rigging procedures.
• Good physical condition; able to lift and carry objects up to 50 lbs.
• Excellent hearing and vision.
• Strong hand-eye coordination.
• Proficient in reading and interpreting load charts.
• No physical limitations that would prevent quick reactions necessary for maintaining safe operations.
• Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
• Must provide a list of references verifying previous experience
