Senior Network & Broadcast Infrastructure Specialist

Role Purpose The Senior Network & Broadcast Infrastructure Specialist is responsible for the end to end design, operation, security, and continuous improvement of the organisation’s network and broadcast over IP infrastructure. This is a hands on senior technical role combining operational ownership with architectural responsibility. As the sole internal network specialist, the role ensures that corporate, radio, and television services operate with broadcast grade reliability, performance, security, and resilience. The role partners closely with the Head of IT on strategy, planning, and investment decisions, while retaining full accountability for day to day network operations and delivery.________________________________________ Key Responsibilities Network Operations & Support

• Own the daily operation, monitoring, and support of all network infrastructure across studios, offices, data centres, and remote sites.
• Implement proactive monitoring, alerting, and performance optimisation.
• Provide on call support for critical network and broadcast services, including outside normal business hours when required.

________________________________________ Network Design & Architecture

• Design, document, and maintain network architectures, standards, and best practices.
• Lead capacity planning, lifecycle management, and resilience design.
• Translate business and broadcast requirements into scalable, secure network solutions.
• Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and operational runbooks.

________________________________________ Firewalls, Security & SD WAN

• Own the configuration and lifecycle management of Fortinet technologies.
• Design and enforce network segmentation, firewall policy, and Zero Trust principles.
• Lead network level incident response, vulnerability remediation, and audit support.

________________________________________ Audio, Video & Broadcast over IP

• Design and support networks carrying digital radio and television systems, where all services operate as audio and video over IP.
• Implement multicast, QoS, and traffic engineering solutions for live and recorded broadcast environments.
• Work closely with broadcast and production teams to ensure predictable latency, packet delivery, and service resilience.

________________________________________ Cloud, Projects & Vendors

• Design and support hybrid networking, primarily with Microsoft Azure.
• Integrate on premises and cloud networks securely and reliably.
• Lead network related projects end to end, from design through implementation.
• Act as the primary technical interface with vendors, ISPs, and systems integrators.

________________________________________ Role Characteristics

• Hands on senior technical role; not a people management position.
• Acts as the single internal authority for network and broadcast IP infrastructure.
• Requires flexibility to support live services where downtime is unacceptable.
• Clear progression path toward Network Architect or Infrastructure Lead as the organisation evolves.

________________________________________ Experience & Qualifications Essential (Mandatory)

• Active CCNP certification (Enterprise, Security, Collaboration, or equivalent).
• Demonstrable, hands on enterprise experience with both:

o HP Aruba switching and wireless o Fortinet firewalls and SD WAN

• At least 10 years’ experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise IP networks.
• Proven experience supporting voice, video, and audio over IP, including latency sensitive services.
• Ability to operate as a senior individual contributor with full technical ownership.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.
