Job Description

Axonic Insurance Company SPC (“AXI”) seeks applications to fill the role of Director, Financial Reporting. AXI is a wholly owned subsidiary of Axonic Holdings Ltd. The successful candidate will be reporting into and working closely with the Group Financial Controller, Deputy Chief Operations Officer and General Manager/Chief Operations Officer. The Director, Financial Reporting, will assist with financial reporting, investment accounting, reinsurance accounting and operations, capital management financial planning and other ad hoc projects as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Responsibility over financial reporting in accounting in accordance with US GAAP for the offshore insurance and reinsurance business, reporting to its parent company;
  • Responsibility over the implementation of processes and controls related to financial reporting;
  • Assist in transaction execution for new acquisitions/business, and the coordinating workstreams with legal, tax, treasury, and M&A teams;
  • Preparation of reports to senior management and presentations for the board;
  • Preparation and filing of stator reports on a timely basis;
  • Liaise with various stakeholder groups , both externally (auditors, key vendors) and internally (AXI Group/affiliates/Third Party investors)
  • Planning and coordination across source functions for the accounting close, remaining engaged in and providing analysis and control reviews of financial results as they emerge from the Insurance Manager, or other workstreams, to ensure the accuracy of the legal entity results developed.
  • Synthesize and summarize detailed financial data to create meaningful, high-level, result-oriented analysis used for executive management reviews as well as board & investor reporting.
  • Expand availability of monthly information and identify and champion initiatives to accelerate the close process.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting policies and manage the annual audit.
  • Develop and maintain process improvement capabilities and controls.
  • Monitor new and emerging accounting policy developments and assess impact on reinsurance activities, Institutional business, and our Reinsurer entities’ financial statements; Collaborate with Finance, Actuarial, Investments, Risk, and other stakeholders to assess, plan for, and implement new activities.
  • Develop effective communication and partnerships with Institutional, Actuarial, Risk and Finance to achieve business goals.
  • Serve as lead audit contact for Cayman entities, supporting our Insurance Manager, managing engagements and all compliance matters.

Qualifications

  • CA or CPA designation with at least 5 years post qualification experience in Cayman Islands (re) insurance;
  • Possesses strong knowledge of accounting for insurance and /or reinsurance under US GAAP
  • Highly analytical with great attention to detail and accuracy;
  • Completed training with a public accounting firm including Audit of (re) Insurance Companies in the Cayman Islands;
  • Prior Big 4 experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in GAAP/US Statutory reporting roles at life (re)insurance companies.
  • Demonstrated expertise in GAAP accounting standards and practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally,and lead the assessment and implementation of new accounting policies.
  • Strong communication skills, written and oral.

Hours of Work: This is a full-time position requiring 37.5 hours per week
