Job Description

A multi-role position integrating security leadership, fire safety oversight, and hospital transportation management to ensure the safety, efficiency, and well-being of patients, staff, visitors, and facilities at this JCI-accredited tertiary care hospital in the Cayman Islands. Reporting Line Reports to: Support Service Manager Key Responsibilities

  • Security Supervision
  • Lead and supervise all hospital security operations, including patrols, access control, incident response, and CCTV monitoring.
  • Ensure all security staff hold valid licences issued by the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service (RCIPS), and renew them timely.
  • Maintain detailed employment and deployment records (hire dates, licences, work permits, site assignments).
  • Enforce licencing regulations: security staff must carry and present their licences upon request; operating without a licence constitutes a criminal offence.
  • Conduct regular security audits and drills in coordination with hospital departments.
  • Fire Safety & Emergency Preparedness
  • Oversee implementation of stringent fire safety measures in compliance with Cayman’s Building Code and fire standards.
  • Coordinate with the Cayman Islands Fire Service’s Fire Prevention Unit for periodic inspections; ensure availability of documentation (e.g., fire alarm, extinguisher, sprinkler, emergency lighting, fire pump, hydrant, generator reports).
  • Organize and conduct fire drills, evacuation training, and disaster preparedness simulations for all hospital staff.
  • Maintain and monitor inventory of fire safety equipment; ensure timely servicing as per schedules.
  • Develop and update a workplace fire safety plan including safe exits, emergency lighting, clear signage, and ensure compliance with inspection checklists.
  • Transportation Management
  • Oversee hospital transportation services, ensuring safe and timely movement of patients, staff, medical equipment, and supplies.
  • Develop schedules and assign responsibilities to transportation staff to optimize efficiency and patient care.
  • Maintain vehicles in compliance with safety regulations, including regular servicing, inspections, and documentation.
  • Implement and enforce safe driving protocols and emergency response procedures for transportation staff.
  • Coordinate with other hospital departments for seamless patient transfers and logistical support.
  • Training & Education
  • Develop and deliver training sessions covering fire safety awareness, emergency procedures, security protocols, safe handling of hazardous materials, and emergency response practices.
  • Participate actively on hospital safety and disaster preparedness committees.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Fire Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Transportation Management, or related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years in hospital or institutional security, fire safety, and transportation management; experience leading drills, inspections, and transportation operations.
  • Valid Security Guard Supervisor licence, and/or additional firearms licence if relevant, according to RCIPS protocols.
  • Professional certification in fire safety, occupational health & safety, or transportation management is a strong asset.
