Janitor

The position of Janitor consists of keeping buildings in clean and orderly condition and performing heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. It also consists of cleaning and supplying designated building areas, performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of the need for repairs, and carrying out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to

• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
• Gather and empty trash
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications
• Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours and checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created
• Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems
• Requisition of supplies and equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
• Maintain tools and equipment
• Service, clean, and supply restrooms
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors
• Field Safety and Quality Control
• Follow all Health & Safety standards and procedures

Experience, Skills & Abilities

• 1-2 years’ previous experience
• Valid Cayman Islands driver’s license
• Physically fit and ability to stand for long hours
• Ability to lift and move at least 25 pounds
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work well under pressure
• Ability to work shift hours; willingness to work after hours and weekend when required
