Animal Care Assistant

Animal Care Assistant Kman Vets | Cayman Islands Kman Vets is a dedicated small animal veterinary clinic committed to providing an exceptional standard of care and service to our patients and their owners. We are looking for an Animal Care Assistant to join our friendly and dedicated team. This is a varied, hands-on role with excellent opportunities to develop your clinical skills. Full in-house training, guidance and support will be provided. Candidates with experience and skills within the veterinary industry are encouraged to apply.

• The Role

You will be involved in all aspects of small animal care and support. Primary tasks required but not limited to will be:

• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control throughout the hospital
• Inventory management and equipment maintenance, including movement of heavy pet foods
• Assiting nurses with daily inpatient care, patient monitoring, medication administration, patient hygiene enrichment
• Restraint for blood sampling, radiography, ultrasonography and laser therapy
• Laboratory management including preparation and performing in-house testing as well as weekly/monthly equipment maintenance
• Assisting in preparing patients for routine, soft tissue, ophthalmic, dental and orthopaedic procedures
• Support with medical nursing, including urinary catheter care, feeding tubes and nutrition needs, drains and chemotherapy needs
• Client education covering preventative healthcare, nutrition, medications and home care
• Aftercare of deceased patients and handling of bodily fluids
• Assisting with reception and client communication when required
• Supporting our mobile veterinary service, including patient care, deliveries and errands

Candidates must demonstrate

• A full, clean driving licence
• Have above-average written and verbal English Language skills, including Math
• Be able to consistently lift 50lbs unaided
• Have emotional intelligence and grounding with regard to patient welfare
