  • Position Purpose

A Pharmacy is categorized into two distinct operational sections: product-oriented and patient-oriented. Pharmacy Technicians independently execute the technical, product-oriented workflows. This operational division allows Pharmacists to focus on patient-centric clinical tasks, including active drug therapy monitoring and health care provider consultations. The Pharmacy Technician's active assignments shift dynamically based on patient volumes and broad organizational directives. ________________________________________

  • Core Duties & Responsibilities
  • 1 Medication Dispensing & Order Processing
  • Assist pharmacists directly during new and repeat prescription fulfilment workflows.

Process medical orders received via telephone scripts, hardcopy scripts, and electronic mail.

  • Route all new telephone-based medication orders directly to the supervising pharmacist.
  • Verify prescription completeness and clinical appropriateness prior to software processing.
  • Validate patient insurance eligibility metrics within the computer profile to guarantee accurate claim routing.
  • Flag potential drug-to-drug interactions, prescription misuse, and patient non-compliance to the pharmacist.
  • Execute exact product preparation, including counting, pouring, weighing, measuring, and compounding.
  • Affix accurate regulatory container packaging labels and assign the correct delivery mode.
  • Generate required patient-facing informational printouts in alignment with corporate compliance policies.
  • Assemble patient compliance packs meticulously according to individual scheduling requirements
  • Procure critical, out-of-stock pharmaceutical products rapidly from external sources for immediate service.
  • 2 Systems & Computer Operations
  • Perform mandatory daily updates to the master patient profile database and drug files
  • Manage pharmacy inventory cycles, encompassing ordering, physical stocking, and software reconciliation.
  • Conduct routine, periodic inventory counts to reconcile digital balances with physical shelf counts.
  • Operate POS cash registers and credit card machines with complete financial precision.
  • Prepare electronic and hardcopy medication insurance claims immediately following prescription data entry.
  • Submit verified commercial insurance claims online through direct clearinghouse portals.
  • Troubleshoot immediate software errors and collaborate with corporate IT tech support to resolve system blocks.
  • 3 Administration, Facility Maintenance & Front Store Support
  • Monitor and replenish baseline equipment supplies, including vials, labels, bottles, bags, and register tapes.
  • Manage inbound communication channels, answering corporate telephone lines, messages, and electronic mail.
  • Balance point-of-sale customer cash drawers and process daily accounts receivable metrics.
  • Audit uncollected patient prescriptions, returning abandoned items to stock and reversing software claims.
  • Maintain corporate phone indexes and emergency contact lists dynamically.
  • Sanitize facility work environments daily to maximize workspace safety and operational through put.
  • Support the retail front-of-store storefront, specifically managing the Cold, Pain, and First Aid sections.
  • 4 Strategic Inventory Purchasing & Procurement
  • Coordinate complex overseas procurement orders and assist with regional supplier transactions.
  • Unpack incoming shipments to audit physical contents against invoices before logging inventory software entries.
  • Source depleted, critical products from non-standard backup vendors during distributor stockouts.
  • Issue prioritized special orders for non-disposed or highly specialized medications not found on the island.
  • Borrow immediate emergency stock allocations from surrounding pharmacies when consumer safety demands it.
  • 5 Interpersonal Relations & Client Care
  • Deliver elite client service experiences by utilizing polished verbal and non-verbal skills.
  • Enforce strict patient confidentiality protocols to solidify external community trust indices.
  • Cultivate supportive, collaborative workplace relations with healthcare peers, clients, and corporate managers.

  • Professional Qualifications & Development
  • Regulatory Mandate: Active, valid registration with the Pharmacy Council of the Cayman Islands is strictly required.
  • Core Competency: Must possess advanced mastery of drug classifications, medical terminology, Latin abbreviations, dosage routes, and controlled substance legislation.
  • Continuous Learning: Expected to independently read industry journals, tour peer facilities, and attend clinical seminars.
