Job Description

Diagnosing Vehicle Issues

Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify mechanical and electrical problems. Inspect and test drive vehicles to determine the root cause of issues.

Repairing and Maintaining Vehicles

Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections. Repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, and suspension.

Following Service Manuals

Refer to manufacturer service manuals to ensure proper repair procedures and specifications are followed.

Inspecting and Testing Vehicles

Conduct thorough inspections to identify potential problems and safety concerns. Test vehicles to ensure repairs have been successful and that all systems are functioning properly.

Using Tools and Equipment

Utilize a variety of hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment for diagnostics and repairs.

Maintaining Records

Keep detailed records of all repairs, services, and maintenance performed on each vehicle. Document parts used and hours worked on each job.

Customer Interaction

Communicate with customers to understand their vehicle issues and provide explanations of needed repairs. Provide cost estimates and timelines for repairs.

Staying Informed

Stay current on industry trends, technologies, and advancements through ongoing training and education.

Ensuring Safety

Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries in the workplace. Use personal protective equipment as required.

Collaborating with Team Members

Work closely with other mechanics, technicians, and service advisors to coordinate repairs and share expertise. Assist in training and mentoring junior mechanics.

Maintaining a Clean and Organized Workspace

Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of hazards. Properly dispose of waste materials and used parts.

Quality Control

Ensure that all repairs meet quality standards and comply with safety regulations.
