Davis General Maintenance and Construction "DGMC" is seeking a highly skilled and reliable Mason/Carpenter to join our team. The successful candidate will have extensive hands-on experience in both masonry and carpentry, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality building, finishing, and maintenance work on time and to specification.
Experience: Minimum of 8+ years of continuous, verifiable experience functioning in a dual Mason/Carpenter role. Technical Masonry Skills: Expertise in concrete finishing, block laying, plastering, rendering, and structural masonry. Carpentry Expertise: Advanced proficiency in rough and finish carpentry, including framing, roofing, formwork, and installation of fixtures. Blueprint Reading: Ability to accurately read, interpret, and execute work from architectural drawings and site plans. Tools & Equipment: Highly proficient in the safe use, operation, and daily maintenance of standard masonry and carpentry hand and power tools. Physical Fitness: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks in various weather conditions, lift heavy materials, and stand for extended periods.
Prepare surfaces, mix mortar/concrete, and lay blocks, bricks, and concrete to strict structural standards. Construct, install, repair, and maintain wooden structures, frameworks, floor joists, and roof trusses. Build, align, and set precise concrete forms for foundations, walls, and columns. Measure, cut, and align all building materials with exact precision to ensure structures are level, plumb, and square. Accurately calculate material requirements for daily tasks to minimize waste and ensure cost-effective project execution. Maintain a clean, secure, and compliant worksite in strict accordance with local safety regulations and company policies. Salary, Compensation & Benefits: All compensation and benefits are provided in strict accordance with the Cayman Islands Labour Act and relevant legislation: Salary: CI$12.00 per hour (minimum) Working Hours: Standard 40–45 hour work week.
