School/Classroom Assistant

Role Overview We are seeking a reliable and proactive Support Assistant to join our dynamic and inclsuve primary school team. This varied role focuses on playground supervision, supporting the smooth running of daily school operations, and assisting within the classroom. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring a safe, clean, and well-organised environment while supporting pupils’ wellbeing and learning. Key Responsibilities

• Supervise children on the playground, ensuring their safety and promoting positive behaviour.
• Engage pupils in simple, creative play activities during break times.
• Prepare and organise daily school snacks in accordance with health and hygiene standards.
• Assist with the organisation and distribution of student lunches.
• Maintain cleanliness across the school, including classrooms, shared areas, and kitchen spaces.
• Monitor and manage stock levels, placing orders for supplies such as kitchen items and cleaning materials.
• Support teachers and pupils in the classroom as required.
• Assist with routine classroom tasks such as changing reading books and organising learning materials.
• Help maintain an orderly, well-prepared learning environment.
• Work collaboratively with staff and contribute positively to the school community.
• Follow all safeguarding, health, and safety procedures at all times.

Essential Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience working in a primary school setting (UK or Cayman Islands curriculum preferred).
• Experience working with young children in an educational setting.
• Food handling certificate
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills and a positive, can-do attitude.
• Understanding of safeguarding and child wellbeing.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Paediatric First Aid certification.
• Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
• Previous experience in a similar support or school operations role.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary: $22,000 - $25,000 per annum depending on experience

Hours of work: 9am – 5.15pm Monday to Friday
