Job Description

We are looking to recruit a lawyer with a trusts and private wealth background to join our expanding Cayman Islands practice. Our Cayman Islands trusts and private wealth practice advises institutional and non-institutional clients, including professional trustees, private individuals and families, financial institutions and charities both locally and internationally, on a wide range of contentious and non-contentious trust and private wealth matters. Working alongside a dynamic team, you will play an integral role in continuing to build the practice, advising clients including professional trustees, investment managers, family offices, and high net worth individuals both locally and internationally on contentious and non-contentious trust and estate matters. You should have at least nine years' experience as a qualified TPW attorney, be a full STEP member and hold the TEP designation, and be able to cover the full spectrum of non-contentious and semi-contentious private client work including trust and supplemental deed drafting, will drafting, trust law analysis and advisory work, probate applications, estate administration, wealth structuring and family office planning, and trust restructuring exercises. You should also have specialist trust litigation experience and excellent knowledge of Cayman civil procedure, including preparation of pleadings, evidence, and submissions relating to trust and estate disputes. The role requires strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage cases efficiently while supporting the wider team in driving strategic outcomes for clients. You will be assisting with the supervision, management and training of junior associates within the team and strong delegation and people management skills are required. The role also requires experience in business development in the private wealth field, and experience in public speaking and industry advocacy is necessary. Salary will be dependent on experience and qualifications the range for which will be US$ 240,000 to US$ 275,000 plus discretionary bonus. Other benefits include health insurance, four weeks' annual leave, life assurance, income protection insurance and a contributory pension plan. This role is open to suitably qualified Caymanians.
