The Labourer is responsible for supporting the daily operational activities within the quarry to ensure the efficient extraction, processing, and handling of aggregate materials. The role requires strict adherence to safety and environmental standards, consistent work quality, and effective coordination with equipment operators and other site personnel. This position is integral to maintaining operational continuity and supporting production targets. Key Responsibilities Assist in the extraction, handling, and movement of stone, gravel, and other quarry materials in accordance with operational plans. Perform general labour tasks including material sorting, site cleaning, debris removal, and stockpile organization. Support machine and equipment operators by preparing work areas, providing signals, and ensuring safe operational zones. Conduct basic equipment and tool maintenance, including routine inspections, cleaning, and reporting mechanical issues. Contribute to safety compliance by consistently following all company policies, wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE), and reporting hazards or incidents promptly. Participate in dust suppression, drainage management, and other environmental control measures as directed. Assist with loading and unloading materials from trucks and other transport vehicles. Carry out additional duties as assigned to support operational efficiency and team objectives. Qualifications & Experience Prior experience in quarrying, mining, construction, or industrial labour environments is preferred, though not mandatory. Working knowledge of hand tools, small equipment, and basic mechanical principles. Strong commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and regulatory compliance. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, high-productivity environment. Valid driver’s licence; equipment operation certifications (e.g., forklift, skid steer) are advantageous. Physical & Environmental Requirements Ability to lift, carry, and move loads up to 25–50 kg on a frequent basis. Capability to work on uneven ground, in confined spaces, and at varying heights when required. Willingness to work in outdoor conditions, including exposure to dust, noise, heat, cold, and inclement weather. Ability to remain standing, walking, or performing repetitive physical tasks for extended periods.
