Job Title: Senior Occupational Therapist Location: George Town / Red Bay Service: Acute, Outpatient & Community Service Contract Type: Full Time Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team. This Band 6 role is ideal for a clinician who is passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care and is ready to take on greater responsibility in clinical decision-making, service development, and supervision of junior staff. You will manage a complex caseload of adult patients, applying advanced clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice to support individuals in achieving maximum independence and quality of life. Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a defined caseload of adult patients with complex physical, cognitive, or psychosocial needs.
  • Perform comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Deliver evidence-based interventions to promote functional independence and safe discharge planning.
  • Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to holistic patient care.
  • Provide leadership, supervision, and mentorship to Band 5 therapists, assistants, and students.
  • Participate in service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to risk assessment and safeguarding processes.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation in line with NHS standards.
  • Support discharge planning, including equipment provision and environmental adaptations.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council CPAM
  • Significant post-registration experience in adult occupational therapy including experience at senior or advanced level in Hand Specialist Clinic and Formal Certifications in Hand Specialism.
  • Experience managing complex caseloads independently
  • Demonstrated ability to apply clinical reasoning and evidence-based practice
  • Experience supervising junior staff or students
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience in complex discharge planning, end of life care, complex moving and handling, working with planned risk and developing advanced risk assessments
  • Leadership or service development experience
  • Training in specialist assessments or interventions
